Can we do something about 35 million Americans who live in poverty every day? Dont we have a moral responsibility to lift those families up. We have children going to bed hungry. We have children who don't have the clothes to keep them warm? We have millions of Americans who work full-time every day to support their families, working for minimum wage, and still live in poverty. It's wrong.

35 million Americans live in poverty

There are men & women who are living up to their bargain, working hard and supporting their families. Dont you agree that the minimum wage should be brought up? Way up?

The only downfall is that production costs and consumer costs will go up, so the increase in pay will be a fallacy of long-term inflation that will ultimately prove harmful.

Well congress will be ok with the minimum wage just as it is. Did you know that they have voted (given) themselves 13 pay raises since they last raised the minimum wage. Their last pay raise in June was an increase of $3,300 a year. Yet congress failed to pass a bill raising the minimum wage to $7.25/hr (that would be $15,080 a year before taxes based on 40hr/wk). Another attempt at raising the minimum wage will not likely to make it to the floor of the house for some time.

Congress has failed to raise the minimum wage since 1998. Now they need to increase it $2.00 to bring it current. This will take a hell of a toll on the economy and small buisness. This wouldn't be the case if congress would have done their job and bumped it $.25 a year for the past 8 years. Then we would be current and the problems would not be as severe.

Don't get me wrong, I think it should be raised... I think it should have been done long ago.

:agree exactly what he said!

i agree with both of them. we need to help ourselves first before anyone else. im not saying we shouldnt help these other countries that need it. but our people need to come first.

I make $7.50/hour putting bagels together but almost every day I work overtime

I make 21 an hour and still struggle sometimes.

yes but the only things I pay for are health insurance, gas, food, clothes, car oil and gym fee. I don't need to pay for mortgages, car insurance, I don't have kids (thanks god) or a girlfriend. So in reality, you could survive on a minimum wage but it's really tough. if I have to go to the doctor or my car breaks that means I have to give up on something every time.
