WASHINGTON — Ten years after Congress banned sales of sexually explicit material on military bases, the Pentagon is under fire for continuing to sell adult fare, such as Penthouse and Playmates In Bed, that it doesn't consider explicit enough to pull from its stores.
Dozens of religious and anti-pornography groups have complained to Congress and Defense Secretary Robert Gates that a Pentagon board set up to review magazines and films is allowing sales of material that Congress intended to ban.
"They're saying 'we're not selling stuff that's sexually explicit' … and we say it's pornography," says Donald Wildmon, head of the American Family Association, a Christian anti-pornography group. A letter-writing campaign launched Friday by opponents of the policy aims to convince Congress to "get the Pentagon to obey the law," he adds.

Yup, let's take away the porn from the troops... it corrupts their morals and will turn them into sexual deviants. Take away the nudy mags from sailors who are deployed for 6 months at a time. Hell, it might make the guys more aggressive on the battle field since they have no release.

Never seen a Penthouse on base, only the "soft-core" stuff like Playboy. In fact, never saw one that showed waist-down nudity.

Ah. You can go over there and die, but you cant flog yer molly? We can go over there and blow people to bits, but we cant masturbate? What a waste of thought, time and energy. If a man wanna bang his bologna, he gonna do it. Taking away the magazines is only going to take them to more drastic measures. Like looking at female camels and shit...

My argument is...

There are no kids in the military... so give it to them
Who are we protecting here? It's not like the military is handing them out to everyone... hell, they still need to buy it if they want it.

And there's absolutely none allowed in Iraq. Didn't necessarily stop anyone, but still.

I can't stand pornography.

If the base stores are going to sell those kinds of mags, they should at least be located in an area that is off limits to families that don't want to have to be exposed to that type of material.

I've always liked the family friendly environment in Aafees and I'd like it to stay that way.

man, that's three hundred kinds of wrong!! :mad:rant:

:hey

Agreed! That's bullshit. They're out there risking their lives to save our asses and protect us, the least we could do is let 'em have a few magazines and jack off every now and then! I guess the only good side to this is like Tim said, they'll be more aggressive in the fights!

I would rather hear about nudy mags on base, than hear about doods cheating on their spouses. I mean, some doods probably keep those mags so they can get their rocks and not do something fucked up behind their wifes backs. I know we should all have control and will power, but hey, not everyone is that strong.

Hey Grace, when yer boi gets older. Watch how fast the conditioner disapears in the bathroom. *snickers*

In the States I don't see it being a big deal, because you can go elsewhere to buy them. Overseas is a different situation though.

I know this is offtopic, but hey this place is called offtopic! :p

Just some FYI for anyone interested: Some Christians think masturbation is a sin even though it is not discussed in the Bible directly. I do not believe the Bible infers masturbation to be a sin. But when masturbation is couple with pornography, then it would be a sin as reducing people to sexual objects is sinful according to the Bible.

God created us with wonderful sensory receptors that feel good when we touch them. We don't have to look at porn for it to feel good. And masturbation should never be used in place of satisfying our spouse . . . unless it is to satisfy our spouse. ;)

Next Bible study in 10. :p

But the tricky thing about this subject is that the people who create pornography do it at will(Possible pun? Lawlz). They know what people will use the porn for, and they willingly let people film themselves doing these things. It's not like a guy held a girl a gun point and said, "Fuck yourself on camera!". In my opinion, masturbating to pornography is no different than masturbating with your spouse while they are nude. Other than the fact that the person looks different...and isn't on the monitor...and you don't have to wipe down the keyboard when you're done :rofl2:
