A 3-year-old boy from Mexico died while crossing the desert southwest of Tucson with his mother, according to the U.S. Border Patrol.

The boy's body was left behind by the unidentified woman, who later told border agents about his death, authorities said Tuesday.

Authorities are waiting for an autopsy to be conducted to determine the cause of death and whether any charges will be filed against the mother, said Jesus Rodriguez, a spokesman for the Border Patrol's Tucson Sector.

Agents apprehended the woman early Monday about six miles west of Sells and she later told authorities that she had left her son in the desert and he was dead.

The body was found about 3 a.m. Tuesday on the Tohono Oodham reservation southwest of Tucson, Rodriguez said.

The woman is in Border Patrol custody and the Mexican Consulate has been notified of the incident, authorities said.

It's disgraceful in so many ways.

The mother killed her child intentionally breaking the laws of a neighboring country.

The Mexican government killed the child by driving their people out of the country instead of ending the corruption, and letting their proud, hard working people excel.

Americans who hire illegal aliens are to blame for providing a place for these refugees to go.

The Mexican government is going to blame the U.S. government for the death.

The American government will not deny that accusation.

The American people were not at fault, but will be blamed as a society in general from around the world.

The mother will not be punished for murder or neglect. She will at worst be returned to her country of origin, and have to put her U.S. ideas on hold for approximately 24 hours.

She'll statistically have many more children to replace her loss, and expect a foreign society to educate, and maintain the health of her new family.
