Assuming...for the sake of the discussion...that Jesus did actually exist and was what the Bible says he was i.e. the prophesied "messiah", where is the world peace that was prophesied? According to the Bible, when the messiah comes, "all the nations of the world will unite to acknowledge and worship the one true God. The knowledge of God will fill the earth. The world will be filled with the knowledge of God as the waters cover the seas."

Nothing like that happened. Quite the opposite in fact! Islam developed and became the religion of the Arabs and many other nations, Christianity broke up into many conflicting sects which were constantly at war with each other, and a large part of the world continued to worship idols. Even today the world is far from worshipping one God.

So my question for debate is this:
Was Jesus the prophesied 'Messiah'?

BTW... if anyone mentions 'second coming' I'm going to ask you to provide evidence for this second coming from the Jewish Tanakh.

I dont believe in a "messiah" personally, that's my viewpoint so I'll leave it to the Christians to put forth theirs now.;)

Patience is virtue.
No, No dude. Jesus has come and gone and no 'world peace'. I can't find anything about a 'second coming'. This 'second coming' was just something that Christianity dreamed up to excuse the fact that Jesus didn't fulfil the criteria for the 'messiah' the first time around.

But...the Jews don't believe the first coming has happened yet, so why would you look to them for info on the second coming? That's like saying I'm going to ask who likes hamburgers, but only vegetarians are allowed to respond :dunno

Yes, I see what you're saying so I'll try to explain. When anyone asks why the Christian Jesus didn't fulfil the prophecies of the Tanakh or OT, the usual response is that he will do so on the "second coming". I mentioned the Tanakh as I would class it as the 'original' documents and nowhere in the original documents does it say that the 'Messiah' will come, leave and return a second time. As far as I'm aware there isn't even any mention of a 'second coming' in the Bible either but I'll need to check on that. Hope that clears up the confusion.

Ah, gotcha ;) I'm not up to speed on my Jewish prophecy, so I'll gracefully bow out of the discussion :D

Oh please don't! It's much easier to kick-arse when you arguing with people who don't know what they're talking about. :24: :jk
I'm getting close to 18000 posts, and I assure you that not once did I EVER know what I was talking about :D

Care to address the OP? :)
Not particularly. I will admire your intellect and preparation from afar.

When someone sets the rules as you have, dictating to subesquent posters what is and what shall be, leaving little room for what I would consider open discussion, makes statements like this
According to the Bible, when the messiah comes, "all the nations of the world will unite to acknowledge and worship the one true God. The knowledge of God will fill the earth. The world will be filled with the knowledge of God as the waters cover the seas."
with no reference to book, chapter and verse and then makes statements like this
BTW... if anyone mentions 'second coming' I'm going to ask you to provide evidence for this second coming from the Jewish Tanakh.
the odds are clearly stacked towards one point of view and you're not playing by your own rules. And that is constricting.

Good day.
