Does anyone practice it? If so, which technique?

I've always been somewhat interested in meditation and have attempted it now and again, but my mind is too busy, I end up getting frustrated and quitting.

I'm at the "interested" level again and want to learn more...I've been searching online and see some helpful tips but I'd like to know what others think or what tips they might have.

Thanks.

I've been throwing this idea around a bit lately. I've never been able to get into that meditation state, but there are days I think it would really be nice to know exactly how to do it.

I don't meditate, because when I do, I get a little bored, then start feeling mildly depressed. Then I start thinking about not-so-pleasant events that happened in my past.

However, I don't believe in knocking meditating since it clearly works for a lot of people who give it a chance. It's just not for me.

I did it for a while to relieve stress. Basically you have to focus your mind on relaxing a part of your body. I had problems at first so I was told to imagine my finger tips getting warm and the heat moving in to my hand. It must feel real in your mind or your not concentrating enough. Once you can feel the heat move up the hand and into the arms and so on.

This is very demanding mentally so be prepared to spend some time buinding it up from the fingers to hand to arms. I was able to achieve the first part in 3 days when i really concentrated and believed but i think i could have done it sooner with no interruptions.

When you get to a certain point you will be amazed at how well an relaxed you feel.

Is that how you did it ?

Their are many forms of meditating. So if one way doesn't help you, try another approach.

For example, not everyone likes staring at a burning candle, but some do like closing their eyes while meditating instead.

I've done it a few times. It's helped me with my constant pain thanks to my handicap. I haven't had time to do it again but I still want to continue to do it.

Many people find that meditating at first doesn't help. But those who stick with it and give it a chance usually find that meditating does start to work for them over time.

A very stupid misconception of meditation is people and physical therapists seem to think relaxation comes from physical positioning which is bullshit. Clear your mind of stress by being in a relaxed environment. You could be sitting on the couch; the location or positioning as long as it doesn't alter your blood pressure doesn't really fucking matter.

Mental ease creates physical ease. Accomplish that, then contemplate.

I've noticed that psychotherapists who are proponents of meditating tend to think that meditation works for everyone who gives it a chance. But therapists who don't meditate themselves tend to think that while it helps many, it doesn't help everyone who tries it.
