McDonalds cup called a missile, woman gets jail time

Two years? Shoulda killed one of them-she'd plead insanity and be out in 6 months....I love the poor victims.....'I guess we inadvertently merged in front of her"..yep. Twice. Enough to make her swerve. Gimme a break.

Its just goes to show what happens when a country is founded by the greedy, who eventually become the rich and politically powerful. No consideration for the common man. As Frank Zappa once said, "The United States is a nation of laws: badly written and randomly enforced." Now, this quote was written during the Vietnam Era, during which this quote couldn't be more true. President Johnson was sending troops over to Nam who were mostly of the lower class. He was essentially having the poor and unfortunate die for fruitless political theories (prime example: The Domino Theory) in which our country has no business in. Progress?

Now, in our modern society, we can definitely see this going on with Mr. Bush's War. However, it is definitely clear that it is immpossible for our body of government to properly represent the people when the people get virtual, as opposed to direct, political power. This McMissile case is a very clear example of how a government of aristocratic citizens cannot possibly make fair laws that would properly maintain the pursuit of happiness for those who cannot find time, energy, or financial capitol to properly represent themselves in our legislatures.

What jury could convict this woman, and what jerk DA would press for the fullest extent of the law?? There were obviously extenuating circumstances going on at the time. I'm thinking an official appology, and 10 hours comunity service should have been plenty. Maybe make the poor woman wash the guys car for him.... This is crazy.

I can't respond to the above posts. I clicked onto the link, but it came up with nothing.

Is anyone able to copy and paste the article into a post on this thread, for me to read and respond to?

Thanks.

Ria.

I agree - although 5 years good behaviour, still seems a little harsh, considering some of the other sentences.

I have a big problem with judges - to me it seems they get things really screwed up. I think it's because they don't live in the real world, at least here was a bit of common sense.

it's not the legal system as much as it is the assholes that inforce it.

Thanks, IntruderL - can respond now I have read the article.

Well, as Homer says above, that's very true.

She got cut up on the road twice, yet nothing happened to the person who caused that potential danger on the road. What she did was more a case of a 'knee-jerk' reaction I think.

At least the judge decided to 'gain conciousness' again and get it more right in the end, rather than a jail sentence. Well, I still think it shouldn't have been 5 years...

It's wrong that the other person got nothing though - justice is never prevailed, no matter what they do. It seems as though it's too much hard work for the judicial services to work out the full picture.
