That's a pretty good picture for just seeing it and it not being planned on. Was it flying low?

what this is:D

It's a British aircraft built by Miles Aircraft and was used as a trainer in the air force. That much I can tell you. Without being able to see the canopy area I can't identify it 100% which is unfortunate. Some were open canopy areas and some were closed. That would also give me a clue to it's age. I'm assuming it's time would have been just before the war ended or a few years after.

What was fortunate is that you saw it and better yet was able to take a shot of it flying. Something else that would have helped id it was if I could read the numbers under the tail section.

Edit: Did I ever tell you I love aircraft? If not I'm tellin' you now. :D

Guyz did you have to google that or do you actually know that much about airplanes?
I did not Google it but I will now that Ian gave me a number I can read. I now need to know exactly what it is so I can store it in my brain forever and ever.... amen. Oh and one more thing lord.... at least make me correct with the manufacturers name or I'm gunna look fucking stupid.... double amen and 1 hallelujah for good measure.

First of all I would like to say good afternoon to the congregation of The Church of the Joyful Sinners. Before I tell you what the plane is I feel compelled to tell a little parody. When I was but a teenager there were a coupla' times were I was able to copp a feel of you know what I mean. :D Of course when I was chatting with the boys I would have said something to the effect that I coulda' had her if it wasn't for ( insert excuse ).

Identifying older aircraft especially when never having seen a real one can be as difficult as conquering a woman.... if you know what I mean. :24: Sometimes you need a little bit more info to be right on the money. Well I missed it in a very important area... like the manufacturer. I pretty much nailed it as far as the purpose and era goes so I coulda' had her if it wasn't for that. :D

It's a Percival P.40 Prentice T.1.
