One of four Miami-Dade police officers shot on the job in Cutler Bay has died. The other three remain hospitalized as police continue a massive manhunt to find the armed suspect whose identity has changed several times.

At 3:45 p.m. Thursday, Miami-Dade Police Commander Linda O’Brien announced that the name of the suspect had changed for the second time in several hours and said police had been misled.

The new name of the suspect is Shawn Sherwin LaBeet, 25. He was last seen around 2:30 p.m. in Central Broward inside a 2007 4 door black Pontiac Vibe with Florida tag number W59-EPT. Police also have reason to believe that there is also a woman and two children in the vehicle, according to Cmdr. O’Brien.

O'Brien said anyone who sees this vehicle should call police immediately and not approach the car.

The first name of the suspect given out by police was Kevin Wehner but it has been determined that Wehner is not involved in the case and is currently in Jacksonville. In addition, the first picture of the suspect was incorrect as well.

According to O’Brien, officers from the Cutler Bay district were conducting a burglary and surveillance detail around 11:30 a.m. when they spotted a vehicle driving erratically.

The officers stopped the suspicious vehicle at SW 281st Street and 136th Court. The suspect, identified as Shawn LaBeet, 25, got out and began shooting at the officers. In the exchange of gunfire, four officers were shot.

Miami-Dade Detective Robert Williams says two of the officers were in plainclothes and two were in uniform.

A female officer was airlifted to JMH’s Ryder Trauma Center. She is undergoing surgery for what is described as 'massive' injuries. The other officers were taken to various hospitals including Baptist and Homestead hospitals.

The identity of the officer who has died, has not been released.

It makes me sick every time I hear about a police officer getting killed.

No need for a lengthy appeals process or anything.

I'm sure AEF will be in here shortly to disagree with me.

Well, if he actually warrented an armed response then I actually agree with him getting shot if it was self defense.

But of course I disagree with most of you, but who wants 8 pages of circular arguing, not me.

You'll be surprised how much money police can make with overtime, at least up here in NY state. Some of them Clear $70,000 a year, believe it or not.

I disagree with your stance on capital punishment.

Yes it is, in most parts. Now add their husband/wife's income ontop of that.

I'm not saying this is true for all cops, just the ones around here.
In your opinion it is and that has been noted. But in my opinion, it isn't. And what a husband or wife makes has nothing to do with what someone's spouses get paid. When my employer goes to pay me, what my husband makes is not part of the equation.

Thats strange, I know many people who make 40,000 a year and are just fine in NY, around where I live. Like I said, I'm talking about just my area.

You don't have some sort of combined income with your husband?

What some police officer's wife makes has nothing to do with what they should get paid and therefore should never have come up in this convo - this was the point.
