Ok, wasn't completely sure if this would be the right spot to to put this...

The full article

At issue is a contract between Marvel Comics, the current publisher of Wolverine, and Twentieth Century Fox, a subsidiary of News Corporation and producer of the big budget ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ movie.
According to legal experts, News Corporation lawyers added a clause giving Twentieth Century Fox complete rights to Wolverine upon release of the movie, as well as complete rights to all other Marvel Comics’ characters appearing in the movie.
Holy cow. I mean really, why didn't Marvel notice that in the contract?

If 0th Century Fox wins in this, I really wonder where the development of Wolverine will go down the line. How sad to have a character that they created and have worked on for years be taken away!

Ok, but Marvel still has control over development. TCF just owns it. Disney owns Pixar, but Pixar has control over development.

And where have you been, pirate girl. :p

Oh you know... plundering the Seven Seas. ;)

Well that's reassuring. Kind of. Would they have to get permission for everything they want to write in the comics and all that though?

Not if they got all the rights. The way it worked for Pixar was they made sure they kept all the development rights - Disney is just the parent company. It looks as if Marvel did not do that, so it's TCFs call on that. But it wouldn't make good business sense for them to override development here. You already have a problem with it and I imagine loyal fans all over the place are feelingthe same way. If TCF tries to mess with it, they'll lose the fan base.
