I use AOL. Have for YEARS.

Last two days I have noticed e-mails in my sent box that I didn't send.

It's definitely spam. And then my spam filter got turned off??

I turned it back on and tried to change my password. Will this fix it?

What happened? My mail got hacked? The AOL Support person said it was probably a worm on my computer, but I only use work and school computers - neither of which I think would have a worm.

Anyone?

could be all sorts. you could have spyware on your machine, it could be being used as part of a spamming network, like the one they busted in Spain the other year. They were hijacking people's computers without their knowledge and doing stuff. Or it could be a worm of some kind.

To be honest, I'm use a mac so I wouldn't really know...

lol...macs! :p

well I guess what I mean is I don't think it's the machine. Could it be something else? And would it be fixed if I just change my password?

i am inclined to say no, i agree with ed, your AOhell mail software is loaded onto your machine correct?

if by some chance you use I.E. or Firefox to log into Aohell and check your mail, then yes changing your password should work, but 95% of the people that use that P.O.S. I.S.P have loaded software onto their computer, and only connect to the mail server to download new mail, which would indicate that the problem is on your end

no - no program is loaded onto my machine. I go to aol.com and sign into my mail.

And I sign on from all sorts of different computers since I don't have internet at home.

Spam filters are not 100%. But lately you been getting lots? Are you using MS Explorer? I was going to suggest switching over to something like Google Mail which has pretty good spam filters.

Was that a virus or trojan horse? Usually acquired through email.
