Has Cameron put through a poll tax? Has Cameron been responsible for lots of soldiers death in a war that could have been avoided by not neglecting our armed forces for the sake of greed? Has Cameron closed down a huge British industry without offering the workers an alternative means of living?
Yes to nearly all those questions. That was my point.
Cameron has made massive cuts to the military. We here every day about how the army is in dire need of support aircraft and new more suitable land rovers. Yet a large chunk of the budget has been spent on new aircraft carriers. We have 3 already, to fight 2 wars in landlocked countries....
Cameron is in the process of raffling off another public service sector if he can't slash it's budget to unworkable levels like the other public service sectors.
And at least with Thatcher we became an economic force, while other countries are recovering, our growth is slowing down. I'm not going to shed a tear for the miners, because they had to get out of the mines. Mining is not a sustainable economically or viable industry in the UK. Especially when compared to the superior wealth of resources and cheap labour that countries like Iran or China possess.
If Thatcher had subsidised mining back in the 80's, which would be the only other solution; right now we'd be a lot poorer and just now facing a lot of out of work miners.
Thatcher also did her bit for peace as well. Helping end the cold war is a big achievement. Cameron warbles a lot about the mess Labour left us in, but the one thing that they truely ballsed up was entering us into two irrelevent wars. I've never heard Cameron warble about this, so I must presume he thinks that's one of the few good things labour left him with.
