Right now, I would love to shoot him. He is younger than I am and retired. He works in his yard all the time. Good for him. Saturday is the one day a week I can actually sleep in. Since we have experienced cooler temperature this week we have opened windows to let in the cooler air rather than run theA/C all the time. My lovely neighbor decided to mow his yard at 7 AM this morning.:eek

Still better than my semi-Amish neighbor when we bought our first house. These were small houses on small lots. He decided to plow a garden right outside my bedroom window with a tiller at 5 AM on a Saturday.

In the words of Bugs Bunny, "This means WAR!"

I don't get people sometimes. Our same neighbours; the wife, decided to burn her trash a couple of years ago on the FIRST nice day we could have the windows open. Not lawn debris that can almost smell good. Trash. I was waiting last year. If she did it again I was going to march over there w/the garden hose and put it out. She didn't. Perhaps me loudly slamming every window and door shut the year before gave her a freaking clue?

Some people are completely clueless.

Folks wonder about the backup beeper on my skid steer at times when I run it early in the morning. They don't really complain, just ask what i was doing at 5 am. I use it to bring slab wood over to the boiler. Funny how they forget all about it when the snow gets deep or they need a hole or a ditch dug. Nearest neighbor is over a half mile away but sound really carries depending on the weather. Log trucks unload at all hours at the Amish sawmills around here. Part of life if you don't live far enough out away from folks.

My road is quite populated and my house is surrounded by neighbors on both sides and across the street. Luckily though, our neighbors aren't retards and the houses are spaced far enough apart that it doesn't feel like they're encroaching.

I'm just curious how far the neighbor was from your house while he mowed?

We live in a pretty rural area, and at night you'll get some of the neighbors hound dogs barking all night long along with some other's roosters going at all times in the morning, to the point where if your window is open, either night or morning, if you're a light sleeper, your sleep may be disturbed a little.

Ultimately I can't figure people who cut their lawn so early anyways. Not the best cutting time. Considering the guy is retired, I'm guessing he didn't have some time constraints to get it done. I will note that sometimes during the summer months I'll break out the chain saw around 7 in the morning just to beat the heat by 11, but if I'm cutting around a neighbors house (about 50 yards away), I'll usually wait till 9.

His mower is very loud. Our lots are a little over an acre each. He could not have gotten any closer to my bedroom window without mowing my yard.

Then it was beyond rude. I'd return the favor, but at 0400, and throw in a leaf blower and weed whacker for good measure.

Do have to laugh. When we first moved to our current home, going to bed around 10, all of a sudden someone starting dumping ammo through a semi over a couple hills. I was getting really irritated that someone would do something that late at night, and then it dawned on me, well, if he can do it so can I! lol

My biggest thing was this guy is retired and can mow 24/7. So why at 7 AM on Saturday.

I agree.

I would ask him why.

Common sense would tell you that if you're that close to your neighbor and you're out that early mowing, that people could be sleeping and you could wake them.

I'm a kind of "I'll do what I want" kind of guy on my property, but as mentioned, if it's that early on a weekend, even I won't go doing "loud equipment" work near the neighbors house. That's plane rude. Heck, I don't even feel the need to shoot after dusk;)

Or, as mentioned, return the favor LOL

Take II. My wife is not feeling well and I did not sleep well last night so I decided a little rest would be nice. For 30 minutes the teenager who lives behind me road up and down the road on his loud racing motorcycle. I finally gave up and got up. He put up the motorcycle once I was up.
