Love, sex and having "fun" is overrated

Nowadays, movies, media and all we talk about is sex, love, being loved and going out for adventure. We often refer someone who don't do those things "not having a life". What life is all about anyways? Is that all there is to life? I have friend who simply enjoy having a quiet time of their own and enjoy it. They don't think getting drunk and having meaningless sex is something to be proud of to have. They are in their early twenties and they don't see they are missing something. They even feel sorry for those people who need to fill their emptiness by escaping in their drunkenness and time wasting. I admire them in some way but at the mean time, I question what's the best way to live. Maybe there is no such way, but I somehow wanna find an universal lifestyle which is health, fun and most accepted. What you you guys think about that? What's fun for you?

honestly I would rather have ok sex with someone I really cared about other than amazing sex with someone I have no feeling for what so ever...don't get me wrong I do appreciate and love great sex but I prefer the passionate type that means something in a relationship

it's tough to say what gives your life meaning, what you think is the best way to live. but if you're unsure of it, not sleeping with people is probably a safer choice than sleeping with people.

Life is all about what makes you happy. Some people drink, some people fuck, some people get married, some people wrench on cars, some people build computers. Hobbies are an extension of your personality.

I agree, I love sex, booze and fun but I wouldn't put anyone down who dosen't, do whatever makes you happy if you're not hurting anyone. I do however find it strange that Magic P thinks love seems over rated judging by some of her other posts where she seems fustrated by the lack of it.:confused

You guys all say do what makes you happy, and some of you say do what makes you happy without hurting anyone. But what about hurting yourself? Don't you believe in consequences? And are you really not hurting anyone? For Peter, I am frustrated by the lack of it but I am trying to live a life just as good without it. Probably not doing so great now but oh well, I am getting used to it.

You'll get there Magic P;) I don't see the problem in doing things which hurt you if you don't bitch about the consequences of your action. I know I'll probably live a shorter life than average because of my lifestyle but I figure whatever you do you're going to go at some point anyway, at least I'll have fun. I've had accidents which were my fault but I don't bitch about them and never will.:)

sorry if our replies are kinda cliche or cryptic.

as much as i hate to say it, you do have to please yourself first. that's just maslow's hierarchy of needs. i don't know how to respond to all these consequences questions. hurting others while pleasing yourself just happens. and i wish it would stop, but i don't think it will. because truth be told, it seems the person that uses people as sex objects gets off easier than the people they use.

but could you live happily with the consequences?

you'd have to be more specific.

i really don't want to sex random girls, because girls i don't know don't turn me on as well. that's me. what's your take on it?

If hurting oneself makes them happy, then I will either allow them to do so by not knowing about it, or intervene and try to get them help.

Usually people who hurt themselves (example of cutting) are hurting socially and mentally, not that they're mentally ill, but they feel depressed and the pain is sort of an adrenaline rush for them. It's all about finding out what is wrong and how to make oneself feel better to actually enjoy life.

Life is what you make of it, to word it in a stereotypical sense...but its true. Hell, you don't even have to have sex and you still have a wonderful life (all though I myself would have a hard time doing that!).

You said you would have a shorter life probably and you are ok with it. What about your family and people who love you? What about those who wants you to live a longer life so you can see your grandchildren and all that? I don't believe having short term fun would really make you happy long-term, peter.

What happens if everybody just pleases themselves first? I know if my parents only think about themselves first, I wouldn't be overseas doing my Grad studies.
Have you had moments of thinking"gosh I'm hurting now, I know how that perosn who I hurt before feels. I wish I didn't do it."
I believe humanity is higher than animal behaviours.

People don't just wanna kill themselves. There is a reason to everything. They were hurt due to someone's fault or their fault. Everyone suffers from their own consequences.

Well to be honest, my few family members who give a rats arse about me will probably die before I do. If they don't then I'm sure they would like to see me go out living the life that I wanted to rather than spending my last years as a dribbling old man pissing and shitting himself in an old folks home, an embarresment to myself. Because of reasons beyond my control, unless I'm unfaithul there isn't much chance of me having kids let alone grandkids and if there was the'd probably have to say goodbye to me at one point or another. I don't see my fun as short term if I'm going to die anyway, in fact I probably bring more happiness to peoples lives in general being the way I am rather than a tee totalling, drug free worryer.:)

I believe you should do what you like with your life as long as it isn't hurting anyone.

If you want to sleep around, fair play do it. Drink, do drugs, whatever.

As a teenager I did everything I could as you can more or less get away with everything at that age and I sort of singled out what I liked and didn't like.

I still do drugs, I still drink, but I don't sleep around anymore - and I don't care what people think of me as I am not hurting anyone except myself.

DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN BEFORE YOU DIE !!!

I worry about you and I know you won't say that out loud one day. It takes time for people to realise.

I say it everyday to myself, I am the kind of person that says what needs to be said. You should never care what other people think.

Nyaaaaa. I wish Jesus could land today and tell you how he thinks of this. I do care about how people think. I think everybody should cuz we live in the same earth and each of our opinion counts.
