Staring out the window at things you once knew,
Hoping that those memories would come flooding back to you.
The haze that only you can see,
Has lost you for eternity.
Though you feel your mind is clear and your eyes still seem bright,
It is increasingly difficult to remember each passing night.
When your once young children came to visit you,
You are amazed by how much they gre.
You don't remember much anymore,
And you wonder what people treat you differently for.
In your younger days you may have been wild,
And now it hurts to be treated like a child.
If only they could understand,
The love and caring created by your hands.
Maybe they would change their way,
And give you something good to remember with each new day.
And though the confusion is worse than ever,
You hope that the next day will be better.
When long dead family seems alive to you,
You are not sure any more what is true.
