It has been suggested that I get my post count up so I can petition for VIP status. It'll happen, but I just noticed that I'm halfway there. Ain't that just ducky?

Just west of it, out by Jordan Lake, actually. Still the country, but Cary has its green eyes upon it.

What do you get with VIP status? Aside from the prestige and status when posting at offtopicz of course! Do you get moderator rights or access to some secret VIP lounge where only important otz'ers can post?

That's the way it was under the old administration. It really was nothing but a huge line in the sand. Black username, you were just a member. Blue username meant "elite and trusted". :shock

Funny, I never viewed it as a huge line in the sand, nor did I look at it as anything prestigious (big whoopie deal LOL).

The way it was explained to me was that in the past, some people took personal info, including pictures, and posted them elsewhere. The idea of the VIP area as I understood it was that once you hit a number of posts, and could verify you were "who you said you were", you qualified for the VIP area. The idea (again, as I understood it) was that someone couldn't just view the forum and take personal info off of it. I know another very successful forum dedicated to a certain segment of the population who has something similar, but you just need to hit like 20 posts and ask to get it. To some extent, makes sense for some people who want to discuss something in some sort of private setting, yet on an internet forum. I do think there were better names to call it than "V.I.P", which the name itself implies your important, which really isn't the case.

For myself, I'm not one to go posting pics of people close to myself on the internet for everyone to see.

Then again, some girls (one in particular who left to start another forum) seemed to get a kick out of posting pics of themselves in underwear in that area. Granted, not bad on the eyes, but still kind of lame IMO.
