There is a republican judgment thread so this can be the spot to show liberal judgment. IE: Sheer lunacy

I came across an article today about a high school football player in florida who is cheating to be eligible to play at a particular high school.

What say you does that have to do with liberal lunacy??

Well the kid apparently is living in a hotel during the week and not at the residence he used when applying to the school. I take it this is one of the top schools one wants to play at and he is a coveted quarterback.

It appears somebody sent in evidence showing he was staying at this hotel. So he should be declared ineligble right? Nope

Get this.....
Yet, the Herald also reported that the quarterback could still be deemed eligible to play by manipulating a bizarre loophole in the Miami-Dade Count Public Schools statutes: He could file paperwork to be declared homeless, regardless of who is actually financially supporting his stay at Hollywood's Curtis Inn.

According to school board bylaw 5111.01: "The District shall remove barriers [boundaries] to the enrollment and retention of homeless students. Homeless students shall be enrolled immediately, even if they do not have the necessary enrollment documentation such as immunization and health records, proof of residency or guardianship, birth certificate, school records, and other documentation."

So we are supposed to let the kid in before making sure he is not an illegal or that he is a health hazard

Give me a break.

He should be sent to child protective services first and processed.

Tell me why I am wrong. Tell me you want your kid sitting next to a homeless kid who has not been properly processed.

at face value the law is probably there for good reason so as not to discriminate

the loophole is the lunacy

It reeks of Favoritism lunacy as well. This player can afford to stay in a hotel? Sounds like some big bucks involved to me...

I missed the part this was a Republic Judgement thread, but then I'm blonde :p

If someone provided evidence that he was not living in his recorded residence, he should be expelled from the school and and placed in the proper school district.

I think this is part of the larger problem in America's public school system: where you live dictates where you can go to school.

Yes, but had the student been able to attend that high school in the first place, this would have never happened.

He only went there because of football

He did not live in the district

His family gamed the system

They probably had advice on what to do and even knew that if he could keep from being caught until late in the season it would be too late for anybody to do anything about it if he claimed homelessness

Clearly his family has money or he has a backer to pay for the hotel. Claiming to be homeless would not fly if he tried to claim so at the beginning of the school year.

But back on point.

No way in hell should a kid be allowed to be put in school when homeless. They should be put into child protective services and then placed in a school after properly being screened to make sure they are not a health concern or danger. For all one knows a kid (not this one) who is homeless could be wanted by the law or have some health issue that could impact others.

hey if that's what it takes, so be it, accountable.

seems like those measures are defending against what could happen if not done.
... such as ....
such as the crap you posted in those pictures.
Then there needs to be some clarification of your pronouns, because it seems like you're saying that if "the crap I posted in those pictures" is what it takes to defend against "the crap that I posted in those pictures", then so be it.
