Can anyone out there verify if this is indeed happening? I know we have Military here. I will hold off on my long-winded rant until I know whether I really should have my feathers in a twist. Cuz if it's true, it sucks. Big freaking time.

That would have to be passed by Congress in order for that to take effect, and if it was real you would not be reading it via Cragislist. It would be all over CNN, Fox News, etc.

Raising the debt limit does not give more room for the administration to spend. It only covers what has been spent already. Only the completely uninformed ultra right wing nut jobs are in favor of collapsing the US economy by not raising the debt ceiling to cover the debt we already have.

I was at the bank on an Airforce base here. With my sisters last month. When the whole federal gov shut down thing was talked about.

Anyway The lady helping us was telling us that the L.E.S are in early with short pay. An L.E.S for those who dont know are a military persons pay stub basically. The lady said that they are in a week early due to the fact that the following week they might not have the personel to put them out.

So it might have some truth. But I will ask my sister when she gets back from training.

DFAS is good about taking ALL of the money you owe them at once. No payment plans for them. Bastards.

It took them six weeks to pay me a travel voucher I was owed after a PCS.

However, they realized they over paid me $800. Two days before payday and they had already taken it out of my pay, and failed to notify me.

Tho, in regards to something like this being splashed all over the news, well... Perhaps or perhaps not? I figured if it is true w/in a few days there will be other links out there outside of this little blurb. Probably through military news sites, not the msm. They would follow about two weeks after. Or at least after it's all over the indy news blogs and they have to post it too to avoid looking like a total mouthpiece. Yes, I am cynical in regards to the msm.

What's sad is that our Troops are treated like expendable assets as a rule. So something like this wouldn't surprise me. A means to an end. Over the decades I've often though if more of our politicians had sons & daughters in the military things might change for the better. Instead we have more Fortunate Sons (& Daughters) in office so things remain pretty much the same.

One small case in point is my BIL. Just last year he finally got approved for disability stemming from his tours in Vietnam and problems from Agent Orange. Ah, llllloooooonnnnggggg overdue don't you think? He is one of many that have been in the system forever. He considers himself lucky.

So yeah, something like this wouldn't surprise me one bit.
