had dinner alone...nice elegant restaurant. all dressed up and I did not want to pay the hotel prices for dinner (believe me I was not at all interested in the price of the meal plus a $3.50 delivery fee and a 20% gratuity already added on for me) great dinner and two glasses of wine....eating dinner home alone is okay...but on the road you yearn for that someone special....and I did...

That's one of my bucket list things. Eating dinner alone in a nice restaurant. Really puts you outside your comfort zone.
and in that I was wearing my wedding band and the hostess was a little shocked for me to say solo...although I did call my wife right after dinner to tell her how much she was indeed missed

I think that would be the worst part about it- people are so awkward about someone eating alone. Not so much at somewhere like McDonald's, but it kind of runs a bell curve, I think. Really cheap or super duper expensive, so not weird, but those middle parts, people get weird/uncomfortable about it.

Makes me think of Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

I bet your wife appreciated knowing she was missed, though.
