Ladies: Does a guy have to initiate a convo first?

I don't know really. I guess in the past I've had a taste for both sides. I know these days though that I usually wouldn't start anything. But no, a guy doesn't always have to initiate everything.

I'm a tad outgoing...lol..and considering the fact that I adore men and have a ton of friends that are men, I have no problem whatsoever initiating a conversation with one. Usually, I can tell if a man is interested, and if he is and the feeling is mutual, I've hopefully made him comfortable enough to ask me out, if he's not, or if he's married...lol..well, there's nothing wrong with making a new friend, right? I guess what I'm saying is that I'm old fashioned as well, but I'm in no way shy when it comes to men. In answer to your question I'd have to say no, not as a rule anyway. Be yourself and be friendly, that in itself can go a long way in catching somebody's eye.

It depends on the conversation.

If its a casual conversation i don't care if I'm the first one to do the talking however, i will wait for ques from the other party if it turns into something more if that's what you mean.

I think ladies usually are the ones who initiate contact. Although they sometimes aren't aware they're doing so. Women give signals when they're interested, such as smiling at you, mirroring you (if you lean forward, she leans forward, etc), playing with her hair (playing with her cell phone is a bad sign), stroking her arm or neck. Another good sign is if she looks down after you make eye contact. If she looks sideways that's probably a sign she's not interested. But down is good.

Guys try to be confident but for most, at least for me, it's largely an act. I think most guys look for a sign before approaching. He doesn't want to stick out his neck only to be rejected. In a way, it's silly. The worst she can do is say no. But she may surprise him and say yes.

As for a women approaching me, I certainly wouldn't mind. Although I couldn't do anything but flirt being married and all. :)
