LOL!

Ok Mardi Gras means Fat Tuesday. It is the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday which marks the beginning of Lent.

Basically it is the big party before Lent. Well we have so many celebrations we do it for weeks leading up to the actual day.

One of the parts of Mardi Gras is King Cake. Usually it is a raisin bread type thing covered in icing and decorated in the Mardi Gras colors - gold, green and purple. You also usually hide a plastic baby in it to signify Jesus I guess...got me on that one.

It's like a privilege to get the baby.

Anyways - the King Cakes my town likes are like doughnuts - deep fried and coated in icing.

Very Paula Dean of us.

Yummy!

And whoever gets the baby has to provide the next cake, right?

uhm yeah I guess.

To tell you the truth we haven't put the baby in it since I was in school - and yeah that was the rule in school.

So I don't know if that's a school days thing, or a king cake everywhere thing.
