Thats right...that is why honor killings are legal.
Kill your sister....You will be forgiven.
The person then registers the complaint to forgive the killer.
Thus why you can have honor killings right in front of the police station...A father can instruct his wife to kill a child...then forgive her...if she refuses he can have someone kill her..then forgive them.
For the police to stop the killing is a waste of time.

From the article you can be dishonored for very petty things

Cultural traditions in many areas of Pakistan mean that killing a woman whose behavior is seen as immodest is widely accepted.

Immodest behavior that sparked recent killings included singing, looking out of the window or talking to a man who is not a relative. For a woman to marry a man of her own choice is considered an unacceptable insult by many families..

The leadership in PK is sickening ...its a very nasty culture.
You can essentially kill and get away with it...by either have someone do it for you..or you do it but have someone lined up to forgive you.

You can be killed for reporting a rape as well..but thats another thread in itself.

So how fucked up is a culture that whose people can kill a woman for singing..and get away with it?
These people are savages IMO....what can be done to protect the women in these savage nations?

I read an article similar to that several days ago that stated appointing and forgiving murders for insignificant issues as you noted, has become common in Pakistan.
Horrible.
The courts look the other way and the inhumanity will likely only get worse.

Honour killings are frequently more complex than the stated excuses of the perpetrators. More often than not, the murder relates to inheritance problems, feud-settling, or to get rid of the wife, for instance in order to remarry. Human rights agencies in Pakistan have repeatedly emphasized that victims were often women wanting to marry of their own will. In such cases, the victims held properties that the male members of their families did not wish to lose if the woman chose to marry outside the family.

Data and its absence is difficult to interpret. One reason is the reluctance to report honor killings to official bodies. Another reason is that honor killings are occurring in cultural and social contexts which do not recognize the criminality of honor killings.

It appears as if many honor killings are a way to re marry or keep property..the woman doesnt have to actually do anything wrong..such as sing or look out a window
