Apparent suicide
Fuck that is tragic
Fuck that is tragic
I saw that several hours ago on my phone. Sadly, I am not shocked by this one. Not sure why, but I had a feeling his story would end that way. He was one helluva player though. Sad for sure.
do you mean that suicide is seen to be an option because others in his peer group have taken that dark road, i.e the stigma once associated is gone and almost like a flood gate is opened and the seau's that remain easily get swept awayVery sad, what a tragedy.
Whenever you see strings of suicides, be it with athletes or bullied teens as we have now, I always think about suicide contagion. I mean suicide is nearly literally contagious in the mentally ill. When suicidal ideation is present just the mere knowledge others are successfully completing suicide becomes a catalyst.
Sometimes I wonder how much of that plays into these trends.
In any case, it's sadtoo young

for sure we see evidence of this in some communities, i believe there was a time, not long ago when a high number of teen suicides happened in one particular town in South Wales, UK - all of these poor kids knew each other and social networked with each other, almost as if they gave legitimacy to the act, where as in previous generations, the stigma associated with suicide still was real enough so that if one did it, they were almost immediately shunned (or at least their memory was), certianly it seems to me that the first act did not perpuate repititionCertainly I don't know anything about his case or his life and my comment was more directed towards the trend of teen and athlete suicides on the whole, not necessarily his case. Putting that out there in hopes of not being publicly flogged.
Those who study suicide seem to conclude that individuals with suicidal ideations are more at risk of killing themselves when they are aware that lots of other people have done the same.
The way I see it is, the feeling of suicide is sometimes "there's no hope and I will never get better; i'm best off dead." Now when you hear someone like you has died this way, you may think "see!! it's true, no one ever gets better, this is my only choice." :\
