A few pics from my exploration there. As always, each pic is a link to a bigger version in case you like a particular pic.

That's one thing that gets me about flickr over smugmug - no medium '800 wide' picture size. Still, on with some pics.

San Bernardino - stopped at an ihop for brekky before setting off (unseen, just to the right in the pic) but drove down the street just beyond where the houses are seen. That was one street that didn't feel safe to drive down shall we say.

One of the pay stations just before driving into the park proper.

On the road just past the checkpoint to go in. No idea what it is.

What looked like broken egg shells of some description. I wonder what may have been inside...

I loved the cloud formations.

I think a lot of the shots I took were not just for the scene but for the clouds too.

The cactus garden within the park.

A close shave.

Took a shot further back, but I preferred this one.

Conclusion. There were various little signs like this explaining things within hidden valley. The isolation and feeling of being 'amongst nature' as it were I think were unsurpassed within this fantastic location.

A final shot before leaving the park. Didn't visit everything (it's a massive park) but there'll be other times. I'm going back for sure.

Siph you have some very nice landscape shots there. :clap Hard to pick a fav.

Thanks Guy. I loved that park, truly I did. I want to go again because it is vast enough to be able to spend a few days going to the different areas :)

Also - on a few shots, you'll notice a dust or smear somewhere in the upper left quadrant - ones I thought I'd fixed but I guess not! e.g. shot 3 you can see it quite clearly in the clouds. I may have removed the streak and other spots.

As usual. Great pics. Looks like an interesting park.

Thanks Fred. I'm selective with the shots I keep - I guess I take just as many 'bad' ones as good perhaps :p Great park for sure.

Very nice! Is it me or did you do a great job at metering?

Thank you Janie. :) I do sometimes adjust the metering for spot or centre weighted but normally I leave it on the multi. Most times the camera does fine with the segmented honeycomb approach in multi. Sometimes - wildly bad. I wouldn't say I put as much effort into this as I should. *makes notes*

Show off :p Seriously, kudos to you!

Technology makes one lazy I find. Pick me up on this and ask me - but next time, I'm going to rely less on technology and do things a bit more manually. I've lost some of that feeling of satisfaction that you get from doing that :)
