I'm at a loss to see how this could be called racist. Are they sexist when they split the tribes into male & female, were they agist when they split the tribes into oldies vs the youngies? No one complained about that.

What about when the tribes merge & the old tribe members still vote along tribal lines voting out the weaker tribe. This could be described as bias, we'll call it tribalism. Where are the complaints against tribalism? (Think about it, the complaints would actually exist if each of the original teams was black versus white - insert any 2 colours here, but where there are no colours involved no one complains).

This is just another experiment in the survivor experience.

In my opinion it shows a gaping wound in the side of a society that sees this as racism. Perhaps that wound is still not healed enough to take the strain of this, but it is definitely not racist.

I agree with Sharpies on this. I don't think it's racist, but it will be called that.

Yes, i think we still have problems in this world with racism, but most of the issues you hear about these days is nothing more than someone throwing out the race card to suit their needs.

Well- I ask because the host of Survivor was on the emmy's and had to defend himself because they were talking of pulling the show off the networks for this new grouping. I totally agree that they are making more of a deal then should be made. I see how it could be seen as racist, and maybe as a caucasian I don't take offense to it? I don't know....

I don't think it is racist either. As with most all social experiments, and yes, that show is definitely a social experiment, races and sexes are usually divided. Perhaps next certain minority groups will call the Census Bureau a racist organization because the data they collect uses a person's race as well as other information.
Of course, the only way that tribal divide in that manner could be deemed racist is if the challenges were geared to favor one race over another. And we all know that is not the case. There have been winners who were white, black, latino, male winners, female winners, homosexual winners. No sir, definitely not racist.
