Many teens experience low mood and hopelessness after constant exposure to highly curated peer content. Some describe a sense of failure before they’ve even begun life. How can adults spot depression linked to comparison loops? What online habits actually reduce the emotional weight of constant comparison?

I think social comparison is not only severe in Gen Z buy also in other generations, and I think the excessive use of social media is the main culprit. When people compare themselves with others and find themselves not being able to maintain the same standards, they become depressed.

Yes, social comparison can contribute to depressive symptoms in Gen Z. Constant exposure to curated social media content often leads to unrealistic self-assessments, feelings of inadequacy, and anxiety. Peer pressure, likes, and follower counts amplify this effect, making mental health support and media literacy crucial.
