Is Enjoying Sex O.K. with God?

Have you ever noticed (cough) the hang up that the Christian church has with sex? I'll admit I've not been to church in about 10 years, so maybe now they are teaching it differently (sex and marriage). But historically the Catholic church is a really good example of "be fruitful and multiply, but don't enjoy it" mentality.

Does the Bible actually address this issue?
Is marriage something God made up or was it an invention of the church?

How about sex outside of marriage- Is there anyone here who really abstained from sex until they got married? Come on, I'd like to hear about it! I think most young people, even steady church goers think it is some old fashioned rule that is easy to ignore, just like the quant idea you should not use birth control.

What about casual sex- is it a sin? And if it is a sin does it really have any meaning in todays society? My understanding is that many kids as in young teenagers, have sex today like I used to rely on getting to first or second base on casual dates.

Really the big problem I see with casual sex is pregnancy and V.D. If those are prevented and you act responsibly in a relationship is there a problem, besides your soul being damned and burning in hell for eternity?

I've been told on so many occasions that Europe laughs at the U.S. when it comes to our sexual morals. Are we hung up compared to the rest of the world? Actually I think we are.

I think you are right on target with the others though.

This wait until you're married to have sex may have been appropriate back in those days when they used to get married younger but not so in these days. I know I couldn't wait that long and sure most can't either. Hell, if some people waited they may never have sex.

I think you are right too that Europe is more liberal when it comes to sex but USA isn't backward either.

I don't know what church you went to, but the one's I'm familiar with did not use to promote sex and pleasure when discussing marital relations. But my disclaimer is that I've not been to church in a while so maybe it's better now or maybe I just went to the wrong church!

Just think about those young girls of India & surronding countrys that are circumsized as teenagers . All in the name of religion . They will never get to enjoy sex . makes me very angry to think about it .There should be a law aganist this type of torture . Oh but there is now thank god . I do remember getting that impression from a Catholic church during a wedding I went to once. Basically the way I felt when I left there was the wifes job to to serve her husband and have his children and thats it. Sex and enjoyment about it wasnt a priority, but I just kinda blew it off as a misinterpretation because Im not catholic.

If memory serves, the Bible actually talks about how it SHOULD be a great and wonderful thing. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if there were an organized religion out there that told you it was wrong, but IMO, they aren't paying attention to their Bibles.
