Creating homegrown apps, social media, and services can reduce dependence on foreign tech companies. Yet adoption is challenging due to network effects. How can local platforms compete with established global giants? Are incentives or regulations necessary to make them sustainable?

I don't see local services being able to compete with the tech giants, but they do hold a special place on the internet. I hope more people branch out and look into building their own platforms or communities to discuss their hobbies and other things with other like minded people.

It could be an answer but they might not compete with the global platforms. For instance, it wouldn't be possible for any country to compete with Facebook even if they create something similar locally.
