Personally I don't think it's a matter of race does he have the experience to be president I say no he is just a junior Senator I do believe if the color issue continues and he is elected division between races will increase and we have come along way to close that gap. We are ready for a qualified black President but not Obama. As if he doesn't know his Pastors beliefs after 20 years of having the same pastor then how can he assemble a cabinet when in the Oval office
I feel that as long as any candidate's plans, intentions and action plans greatly and positively influence everyone, why should it matter what their race, gender or creed is???? The question should be are we ready for a better president instead of focusing on the fact that Obama is 'black' or that Hilary Clinton is a 'women'. In my opinion, no matter what race anyone is, we all bleed that same red blood!
Thank you for posting this, and thanks to everyone who commented. I think having a president of the United States that is a woman or an African American is long overdue. I am looking forward very much to having either one of the Democratic runners as the next president of the United States! They will have a difficult job, though, with 8 years of corruption and mis-management to overcome...
I think rascism is always going to be a problem no matter what in America, We in the Black community, will never over the come the white man oppion about black people even though it says thou shall be treated equal what equal, theres no equal, if the U.S can't even agree on something like oil then how is America supposed to accomplish something as harsh as racsim black or white man or women what difference doees it make as long as someone can run this country without strings attached we are supposed to be the land of the free but we are actually prisoners in our own country against all odds of 911 innocents cilvilains as you would say however each individual has one thing there both to prove one common goal and that is to win weather black or white man or women there is always going to be talk about rascisim no matter what It make you wounder how things going to turn out when peopl find out that obama dad is black and he was raise by the calcasian rac
I think that Americans are ready for President that is black or even female (or they wouldn't be running in the first place). That isn't to say that Obama or Hillary is going to represent the views that we 'ordinary' American citizens hold. I'm a conservative and disagree with the Democratic view of what would make America great.
Since none of the candidates are going to do anything major to improve (which is the word I'd use while campaigning instead of repeating 'change, change, change' I'd say 'I'm going to improve America' and I'd mean it but since I'm not wealthy and America is a fascist country...I digress, sorry)
Politics-gotta hate it!
Absolutely. I believe America is ready for any president that will bring change to the current congressional system of buying and selling power and campaigning for 80% of the time elected representatives are in office. Both Obama's and Clinton's campaigns have shown that America is ready to support anyone that champions their cause. But what cause should we champion? That is the more important question.I don't care what color a candidate is. If they can do away with earmarks, usher in term limits, find ways to win the war, boost the economy, and get spending under control, my support is with him or her. I think there is a minority of (powerful) voters who would resist any change to the status quo, but if the masses have the power and the truth (and not just voting with their church or union), then things would change for the betterThis can only happen if everyone informs themselves and votes! When states are no longer painted red or blue, they will be free to make a diffe
we've been SO ready, and Obama 's the guy- he will do us proud, you'll see ~
Being a product of Apartheid South Africa....I find it fascinating to read the controversy of America and a Black President !!! I personally think, that a leaf should be taken out of Nelson Mandela's book...as he was South Africa's first Black President... This is just my opinion though...I have lots to say in this matter...so will most probably come back !!
hey kelvin sorry to bust your bubble but this was PLANNED and AMERICA did not see it coming -----now do you or anyone else think he is goin to do good ---- all the runners for the election say OOOHHHH change is goin to happen ---- well thats wat GEORGE BUSH said didnt he --- and look at the world now we are the ones that started the war ---- OBAMA wants us to think that he is goin to change everything well its goin to be WORSE --- ok I have a site for you to check out ---- Alex Jones' Infowars: There's a war on for your mind! and look for the ALEX JONES RADIO SHOW and listen over the internet ---- tell me wat you think ----
he will be the first pres with a PHd in constitutional law black white or green
I t don't make differance if he is black , white, chinese or purple the country is run by a corrupt congress, who makes decision according to highest bidder..Sure usa is better then alot places but why care who we elect because in the they all do the same stuff...There are good ones bad ones wierd ones, but they all have the same agenda, amking money for them self and staying in congress for the great retirement plan........
Is America ready for a black president? YES Is America ready for a bigoted president? NO!
Why do we even have to consider race/gender? Shouldn't it be is America ready for another Dumb Arse Politician? The whole race / Gender thing should be a moot point. Politics for the Country should be about Who Won't F#@K up the country. If people were more concerned with the right issues instead of these poll breaking BS then it might be a worthy election year.
The only way, truly, that we will know if America is ready for her first Black President is if she elects one. Racism is an unfortunate issue that has been intertwined in the fabric of our Nation for a very long time. To anticipate that the election of a single man can change the minds and hearts of all peoples is not a realistic expectation. Clearly as the ex-wife of a black man I am not a person of prejudice, and irregardless of my political affiliations, I think it is an unfair burden to place on the shoulders of a solitary man.
I feel that Obama would make a fine president. The fact that he addresses the race issue, well, unfortunately comes with the territory for the arena that he has chosen to be in. Like Hilary, he has to prove that on two levels he is the better 'man' for the job. Her being a woman first and Barack being a Black man. Then the resume of politics come into play. Whether or not the majoriy of this country is ready for a change of this gravity is another thing. I do not agree that America has remained silent on the issue of race. America is and will always be a nation of individuals that speak on these issues, vote on these issues, live day to day with realities unique to these issues. Our media proves constantly that America is not silent. From this our individual ideals are born. So the question is are you ready as an individual for a race other than what has preceded to hold a presidential position? I still am.
I totally agree with his standards. But erasing the color issue right now, impossible. He has a real chance of winning this thing in my opinion, and i sure hope that he does. Not because i am Black myself, but because we need a real change today, a change for the people, for the better. The country has been going down for a long long time, oh there needs to be a BIG change. And starting from the top sounds like just the place to start. That's all i am going to say on the subject, I could go on and on, but i won't.
I think Obama is the choice for president at this time in our history.... but erase the stain of racism? No one human can do that. What Obama DOES offer is that we all bring what we have to the table and work together towards our common goals Hopefully we are all big enough people to come together and confront racism and many other issues that need to be dealt with now.
Great topic. Good to see people responding. I honestly do not think that race is the factor in this election. I believe that Obama brings forth many issues and race (believe it or not) is the easiest one for us to discuss. Yes, I believe America is ready for a black president. I believe Powell would be miles ahead of every candidate if he ran. I believe Rice would be miles ahead of everyone if she had ran. Do I believe America is ready for Obama? NO. He is selling himself to America and I have never liked anything that was SOLD to me, only the things I personally searched out to buy.
