Iraqis fighting against Al Qaeda

Wow, that's great news!!

Coalition forces are the stable power in the area. If we can just keep the media off our backs for a little longer, and the Dems stop all this BS in Congress, we're on our way to winning the exact outcome we went there looking for.

Mark my words. You cannot win against an ideology. Its been in that region for thousands of years and you're not going to change it any time soon.

What do you mean by "keep the media off our backs"? You don't want what happened in over there to be let out?

First off, radical Islam hasn't hated America for thousands of years. Secondly, we aren't fighting an ideology, we're fighting an insurgency. Not everyone with the ideology is fighting against us. That was the point of the link, even the Sunni's (who make up the majority of the insurgents) are beginning to turn against insurgents.

Noooo I'm talking about their culture and how it works, not its hatred for America.

We are fighting an enemy with a jihadist mindset, which is an ideology. You cant fight ideas.

Im talking about how democracy isn't a very viable system that will clash well with their culture. People have to understand that these people are loyal to their local cleric, religion, mosque and sect waayyy before any government.

That's absolutely, without a doubt, true. However, if like the article says, the Sunnis are getting fed up with the predominantly Sunni insurgency, then that is a sign of a major positive step. These people ARE the same religion/sect as the insurgents, and they are helping the US. I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm saying that this is a sign that they may be able to put all that aside for the greater good. And I would imagine the greater good to the Iraqi people right now would be an end to the vicious in-fighting and killing of civilians.

Meh, there's going to be an escalated civil war soon by what I have read and heard, so I think we're going to be caught in the middle of something big either way.
