An Iranian official was seized by Iraqi soldiers operating under the US??
I am really not sure what to think of whats going on over there. I am really scared for all the soldiers over there and for my boyfriend who could get sent over there any time. Im just sick. I am really afraid we are going to try to invade Iran now too at the same time as everything else. Please someone... shed some light on this!

I'm sick of all the propaganda generated about Iran to justify an invation. Yes it's far from perfect over there but the've been making huge leaps forward the last few years. I'm sick to death of Bush, Blair and Howards war mongering!:mad

Don't be scared Ali. We're not going into Iran. When we did Iraq, we had the political will to do so. I know it's unpopular now, but that's not how it was.

Sanctions are working on Iran. The Iranian government is starting to show signs of stress, and the president is being pressured to comply with Western wishes.

Even if we did go into Iran, it would be a similar story as Iraq is today. We would lose forces, but it would be minimal. Our technology and warfighting capability are just too far advanced.

But to re-state.... We're not going into Iran. Especially with the Dems in controll of Congress. They'll pull the funding quicker than you can imagin.

I believe he meant that it's far too advanced to have mass causalities. Look at how many we've lost so far compared one year (or even one day) in past wars. That's not to trivialize the deaths so far but it really could be a lot worse.

I know it's hard to accept, but casualties in a war are a good thing. It's the only incentive we have to not do it anymore. That's why I'm not a huge fan of the autonomous war fighting gear that's coming out.

I always recomend a history book to people who think we're getting our asses kicked in Iraq. I would encourage you to look into any conflict in history, and do a comparison of casualties.

We're dominating in Iraq against the bad guys, and we're there at the invitation of a legitimatly elected government.

Don't buy into all the propaganda.

I try to read the whole post but I couldnt get past this one.

If you have never been there than you do not understand it. People in that part of the world do not function like we do. Corruption is high because the nationals (iraqi's) do not care about anything else other than themselves. Whatever they can do to make themselves look good that is what they will do. If its smiling and thanking you to your face and planting a pressure plate IED that same night then thas what they will do. Its not warmongering that has stalled this war, its the iraqi people. They are so corrupt and hellbent on destruction that whatever we will, can, and have done will be inneffective. Learn a little more not only about what we have done but what we have tried to do before you let uneducated dribble flow to you fingers and post about a subject that seems way over your head.

Sorry but just because I happen to disagree with you dosen't mean I'm talking uneducated drivel. And if I've never been there means I don't understand it, then what right would Bush and Blair have to start a war somewhere the've never been and quite obviously according to you not understand?

The fact that you dissagree with me does not mean that you are uneducated your right. but the way you say things does. there is a whole lot going on that the regular american doesnt understand because of the cultural differences. there is no way to describe a different culture unless you have experienced it. And the 2 men (bush and blair) have experienced it. I apologize for the uneducated drivel comment, perhaps to harsh. But I think people make too many comments about things that they dont know about.

I dont hear any speak of the ultimatim given to Iraq (Nov. 2007) where if they dont have their shit together then we are gone. And there is no speak of an invasion of Iran. The only way I see us going into Iran is if Isreal hits them, and maybe not even then.

Thanks for the apology. I don't go around speaking of things I don't have any knowledge of. Yes, I probably don't know the half of what goes on over there but that is down to my "enlightened" government and media who push so much crap through to us to suit their own purpose that it is hard to know exactly what is going on. I just get sick to death with all this "America is the champion of the world, anyone who disagrees is evil and wants to kill you" bullshit. There are good and bad things going on on both sides.:)

I know that the regular Iraqi people were pretty friendly to my boyfriend when he was serving over there. However he is a marine and was often fighting the insurgents.

I honestly do not believe that there is anything "good" going on on the iraqi side. Al that they care about is the self serving beuracratic ideals that are and have been prvelent since the year zero. Bush's plan was blown to pieces by the iraqi's not by a lack of good common sense. Thats why I believe his ultimatim is a good thing. Talk to me in november if he doesnt make good on it.

I know this is getting a little off topic, but that's the name of the place...if we're still over there next election, I honestly think I will vote for whoever wants to split the country into 3 sections. Have a Kurd country, a Shiite country, and a Sunni country. These religious factions have been at war for a hell of a lot longer than our country has been around. I think it's dumb for us to think we can keep them from going at each other.

Know what the worst part of it is? I asked one of the Iraqi soldiers I worked with what the difference is between Sunni's and Shiite's...............And he didn't even know!!!!!!!!!!! How the hell are we supposed to stop a hatred between these groups that has been going on for so long that they don't even know why the hell they're fighting???
