Ok.. does anyone have one? I have been thinking of getting one for a while..

here is the background story:

Wifey wants one because she is not tech savvy ...in the least.. and want to walk up to friends..share music.. plug it into her car etc with no thought involved.. yes i know zune is better for sharing..but no one has one so that wont work.. shes getting an IPOD if you know what i mean.

Ok.. right now im using a little sansa 2gig player.. i like it.. i wish it was bigger but i only use it to mow the grass really. Plus im using a treo 680 which im growing to hate. I found out that my phone plan would actually go down in cost if moved to an iphone... um ok.. seems like the net is the net to me.. but ok.

so im thinking of getting the biggest iphone, instead of an ipod for myself (cause i dont really think i need to carry ALL of my music ALL of the time..

My questions..

Can you share with other ipods.. with the iphone if desired?
Do you still HAVE to use Itunes? (trying to aviod it.. im liking Amorok in Linux)

Does the IPHONE tie into cars and everything else under the sun like the ipod? i figure its the same port but really want to get any existing users thoughts on this.. i dont and havent had any I-anything yet.. so.....

The syncing of songs is a little quirky and you have to use iTunes for this. Also, the headphone jack is recessed so you have to get some kind of adapter for the L-shaped headphone connectors. And yes, you can use your iPhone in your car and most other devices that let you tie an iPod into.

i saw some odd stuff today while looking at these.. the internet is still edge and not the g3 faster net connection and you cant use mp3's as ringtones? wtf? this is looking more and more like a bad idea... maybe i will just get hers and leave mine out for a bit
