short ram intake, header, catback and a good set of street tires would put an EM1 into the mid to high 14s.

9 pound pulley on a JRSC with those mods would be almost breaking 13s.

I know man. I was just messin with ya though. I just can't see putting that much money into a car just to break into the 14s. I mean, I could go buy a 4th Gen F-body for around $4,000 and already be in the 14s. Know what I mean? But hey, to each his own. I find it cool that the fastest 4 cylinder is a Chevy EcoTec engine. =)

*sighs*

Golly, a V8 already in the 14s that gets shit for gas mileage and sucks in the winter. Have at it, Johnny.

LT1s aren't anything to shake a stick at.

LoL. Man let's NOT go there. I mean, will a V8 get bad gas mileage, well, depends on what you consider bad. Wait, I don't wanna get INFRACTED for going off topic, can you start a new topic about this for me? Thanks!

As long as you give the AOK.

So, V8s get bad gas mileage?? Have you checked out the Corvettes Gas mileage lately? It's not very far from most 4 cylinders, and is better than almost ALL V6s. 16/26 and let's not forget that's using the new 08 gas mileage rating system. Now, as far as more bang for the buck, V8s way surpass 4s in that category, I mean, I had a 92 Trans Am that had about 400-450Hp(never had it dynoed) running 11.9s. It was S/Ced. It was a bolt on SC, that ran about $3,000. Other than that, I had normal upgrades, like a flowmaster exhaust, K&N filter, better plugs wires, etc. etc.... so we're talking MAYBE $4,000 AT THE most, and that's high balling it. Do that in a 4banger. Run high 11s to low 12s for less than $4,000.

I want to buy the corvette that's getting 30+ mpg.

In any case, at 9 psi, that thing is just a belt-driven blow torch.

I wasn't discussing a Corvette in my post about a 9-15 year old 4000 dollar Fbody... and thus, moot point.

Now, sure you can buy any old gas hog muscle car and make it fast for cheap. I don't want to mod my car because it's a bang for the buck. Hell a vehicle is not an investment in the first place.

Stock it runs 14s, that's we're talking about. Now raping it, you think the 4 cylinders gas mileage is going to be at the top of the list then too?

It'd get a hell of a lot better mileage than 16 city.

I get 26 city beating the hell out of my car.... boost it and tune it I'd still pull low 20s on mileage.

But hey, if I had it running 9s I wouldn't care what fuel cost, because a FWD four banger just rocked your POS 72 whatever running 11s.

LoL, if you had it running 9s, then you put a helluva lot more than $4,000 into it and then it's not an even match. Go figure.

Yet, there goes your "V8s are better" mentality right out the window. It would cost you a pretty penny to put an 8 into the 9s and keep it there.
So many more parts.

Only difference is I could drive my car home instead of trailering it.

It would be a helluva cheaper and more reliable than a 4 banger runnin 9s. I mean, I see all kindsa Civics running around with their fart cannons on with blue smoke boiling outta them. It's really quite comical. Ever watch Pinks? there's this episode where this guy has his Civic running on like 20 psi or something, around 500HP and he's racing a 4th Gen Fbody that has 400Hp or something like that.. the Fbody lost 2nd gear and still burnt the living shit outta the Civic. And to think this guy was going there to make a name for Imports he said. LoL.. if I were to go with rice, I'd get an STi, or an Audi. Those are the only real 4 bangers worth modding in the end. Hell, I'd even go with an SRT-4... they're sweet as hell and around $6,000-$10,000 cheaper than all the other sub 5.5sec 0-60 cars.

First of all, no car running 9s is cheap and reliable. You can only have two of three.

Cheap, Fast, Reliable.

Civics running around with fart cannons are not 9 second cars, don't EVER compare what I'm talking about with guys who stick those damn things on their cars.

Secondly. Just because he said he had 500 hp doesn't mean he has the thing tuned properly, or that it's actually true. it also doesn't take much in the way of being a shitty driver to lose on a national TV show.

Besides, Pinks is set up and fake. Half the time there are two friends on just wanting to be on TV.

Now, as far as an STi, Audi or SRT4 being the only cars worth modding, why is that? Because they're turbo from the factory?

You sound just like a Mustang and Fbody tool on their respective boards. One who knows absolutely nothing about Hondas yet will trash them with "rice this rice that" when he can't make a good case for wanting someone elses 4000 dollar overweight tin can of problems with oversized doors and strange bumps in the floor pan.

We'll continue this once you educate yourself a little bit on Hondas in the first place.

Without looking it up, tell me what VTEC is. Hell, I'll make it easy on you. Name the engine in my car.

When you learn something about Hondas, then you'll have every right to spout the rice shit about.

VTEC is basically the same thing as VVT. I'm not stupid, and if I really care what 4 cylinder you had in your car, I would just look it up, but I don't care. Like I said, if you take a V8 and put $4,000 in it, and take your shitty little Civic and put $4,000 in it, the V8 would spank your Civic and make it cry all the way back to Japan.
