Ian, you know the names of all these birds. Are you into ornithology to be able to identify so many?

P.S. Beautiful shots, as usual. I think you've a unique way to make the water shimmer.

I just showed them to the missus. We both love how you've caught the reflection and the ripples in the water of the grebe. The moorhen falling over gave us a good laugh:D. The way you're caught all the different shades on the female mallard is great, and people think they are boring brown birds! Great stuff!:clap

It's amazing when you see them properly. Bitterns are what I consider one of the prettiest birds, more so that even kingfishers or Green woodpeckers. Yes, the're brown but I've never seen so many shades of brown in one place! Starlings are considered boring too but close up they have amazing colours, not to mention the awesome sight of seeing millions of them in the air and the patterns they make when coming down to a roost!

Are those the ones that dive into the water to get a fish? If there is reincarnation into an animal, I wanna be one of those. :)

yeah they are, and the only bird I've ever seen fly backwards, there's loads of them on the River Severn at Ironbridge/Coalport where I go fishing, I love watching them

Beautiful birds and very striking! It makes me sad to see the amount of people who don't even notice them. There is one that comes to our town park pond in winter. People literally walk past it a foot away and don't even notice! The're so oblivious and wrapped up with things, you get so much more out of life if you notice and appreciate things around you. How could you possibly not notice and appreciate something like this???
