I'm having nightmares. And I think it's killing me.

Every night, I have the same dream. I'm in a maze, and around me, I can hear other people shouting and screaming, yelling for help, until they are cut off, one by one.

It's foggy around me, and dark, and I can barely see where I am headed. All I know is that if I stop for more than 10 seconds, I'm dead. Something is in the maze with me, other than the other people.

I'm scared shitless, and so far, I haven't been caught yet, as I somehow manage to reach the center of the maze and wake up. But the maze is evolving. It knows that I'm beating it, and it's getting harder and harder to get into the center. I'm afraid to go to sleep at night, or even just close my eyes.

It sounds ridiculous, but has this happened to anyone else? It doesn't feel like it's just a fragment of memory or subconscious/REM crap, when I wake up, I am in full fight/flight mode, and I don't go back to sleep for the rest of the night. I don't know what to do.

I am afraid.

I'm no doctor or anything like that.
But, if inward you I would think about what might be causing you to have these dreams. Worries, Any problems you're having.
Normally dreams are caused by worries and stress in life. Or. Too much caffeine. Lol.

Nightmares can be terrifyingly real at times and I have those kind all the time. It all depends on the person and what they go though on a daily basis. I don't have a great life so that's why I think I have these nightmares.

People with anxiety or some other disorter have bad dreams every night. This is because of a overactive and scared brain. It shows in nightmares. I personally have them all the time.

Are you under study/work pressure? I haven't experienced something like that, but I've heard that pressure and tensions cause weird dreams. I'd suggest you to leave whatever you do for a few days and go camping or on a picnic. Else, you could also just watch a relaxing movie or spend time with friends. Maybe tell someone you know personally about the problem.

That sounds horrible! I've suffered from insomnia on and off over the years, so I can sort of relate. I think the best thing for you to do would be to seek medical attention as soon as you can. Maybe even ask to see a sleep disorder expert. Because of my history with insomnia, I've watched many documentaries with some showing sleep clinics where you become an inpatient, and you're monitored all through the night. A lot of people have found the solution to their problems this way. It may very well be something deep seated that you can't tackle on your own. The best of luck with that :)

Dreams are generally a representation of whatever is in your head. Nightmares are the same, they represent whatever is haunting you in your conscious life in other words nightmares are your brain's way to re-create your daily worries. Do you feel like, there's something that worrying you? or trouble that you're afraid of? I suggest you go get some help, it's a little expensive for these services, but you will breathe easier at night once you find what's causing your nightmares.

The best thing to do is to go to a specialist. After all, they're the best people to figure out what's going on with you once they've not only examined your dream, but your lifestyle as well. It could just be linked to something going on with you right now.

Oh my goodness, that sounds like a scene from a horror movie. I can only imagine how absolutely terrifying it gets for you and traumatizing!
Sorry that you are going through this. I have had experiences with nightmares and I never really knew why they kept recurring but unlike yours mine soon just stopped.
I would also suggest that you go and see someone about them, maybe a psychologist! I am not suggesting that you have any mental issues but it would be good for you to relay them to a professional and figure out what they mean or why they keep coming back.
All the best with it.

If you're that scared shitless, don't go to sleep. Anything other problems?

I've got to ask "the-jew-anialator", exactly what does your forum name mean?

An occasional nightmare is nothing to be worried about. But a recurring one could be a sign of something that is bothering you consciously and is affecting your subconscious. I think it might be good idea to see a doctor, even if they can refer you do someone to talk to. Its also a good idea to look at some of the dream interpretation websites. Sometimes just understanding the meaning of a dream can help you deal with it.

It appears that you are having reoccurring nightmares that are causing you substantial discomfort. Recurrent nightmares are a typical occurrence that may be induced by a number of circumstances such as stress, anxiety, trauma, and sleep difficulties.
