to tear people up. (tear as in cry, not tearing a page)
which would you pick? Make sure you have heard each version of both of these songs, the covers IMO are better than the orginals. This is for the mother/son/father/daughter dance. We decided to just use one song and both dance with our respective parental figures at the same time.

I swear to god if I hear a slide guitar at my wedding (aka that god damn Carrie Underwood song), I am gonna blow a gasket. Seriously, we've had this talk.

It starts out with a slide guitar and ends up with whining fiddles, how in the hell is that NOT country? It's country and it's vile. If you want that song, get the original which is far better than that trash.

I voted Carrie Underwood. The Pretenders' version was okay, but Carrie's version hit me as more heartfelt. Katherine McPhee's version of "Rainbow" was okay, but I don't really appreciate her singing style, so to me it was all theatrical and overly fake drama.

I kind of agree. Back to the drawing board, my dad hates the Carrie song...he says the lyrics arent right..whatever. And we need a new B&G dance song, the one we had picked was over 6 minutes long and I don't want to dance that long.

Well, I know Tegan won't like it, but one of my and my wife's favorite songs is 'When You Say Nothing at All' by Keith Whitley, also later sung by Allison Krauss and then mixed into a duet. All versions are nice, BUT, it's a country song...
