... then why aren't we invading Mexico? They have some of the worst violence in the modern world, and some of the largest oil reserves in the hemisphere. Seems to me Washington & their petroleum-based sponsors would be licking their chops to go in there and do a little keepin' peace and takin' names.

If we attack them they have enough illegals here to counter attack. There would be no maids, lawn services would be halted, food would not be picked in the fields. Just a few examples that come to mind.

Stop me if you're being sarcastic and I can't tell, but I've never met an illegal Mexican immigrant who was loyal to their country. Anecdotal so take it for what it's worth, but my dad's worked in a restaurant for 26 years, my mom's been a cleaning lady for the same amount and we've known a number of them...I'm telling you, the ones I know at least, they'd be quiet as a mouse.

Hell, lots of them would probably join the army as translators and get an express ticket to citizenship.

I was being sarcastic :p

However on this point....

Did you not see all the rallies last year where illegals were complaining about what was being proposed?

I agree many want to go about their merry way quietly but there also is a pretty decent block of vocal protesters.

Ya. That's definitely a power in numbers thing...I'd guess in areas where there were fewer illegal immigrants, you'd not see a lot of opposition if the US were to "invade Mexico" lol, and whatever that would specifically entail. Now, in the Southwest, I'd assume things might be different!

The U.S. has already done enough to Mexico when it comes to invading our neighbors to the south. We took literally half their land after defeating them in the Mexican-American war.

It's a different time now. Nowadays we don't take land ... not really ... we invade, erm, drop in to, um, help the people in, um, regime change to, uh, promote democracy and make the world a better place ... especially our part of the world up around the Maryland/Virginia area.

Until Banned made the comment I had no idea how much land Mexico was forced to sell to us as a result of losing the war.

It does make one wonder how different the US could be if Mexico had just let Texas part ways.

Also how different Mexico could be.

They lost a lot of valuable land.
