If only mistakes were never burned into our minds
there was a button on our lives to push rewind.
Clarity came before the fall.
Love didnt have to hurt at all.

All these things I wish were always true.
All of this in me and in you.

If only truth wasnt buried under lies,
It was easier to apolagize.
If I knew my place right from the start,
that never once, doubt entered my heart.

If only it was so easy to stay mad at you,
that I was sure of all I had to do.

The chess board remains,
check or check mate
Im never really sure anymore

I like the sort of semi-structure you have going, I often find an otherwise competant poem can be ruined by a very typical or dull structure.


And from the title I imagined that every verse would have regular rhyme with regular pentameter and regular amount of lines, and would always begin with "If only..."
So I was pleasantly surprised to find out it didn't.
