Ice skating

Have you guys ever been iceskating before? Is is easy to do?

They are setting up a ice skating rink here downtown for the winter (just something small outside) and my girls are wanting to go but none of us have ever been iceskating before.
I dont want any of us to end up in the ER with a broken wrist or something

Done it once. It wasn't very hard, but I didn't enjoy it.

Its as easy as falling of a log.You and the kids will love it ,i played hockey for many years. just walk along the boards for the first while if no boards push a chair in front of you tell you get used of standing on the ice.

i took lessons for a couple years...i love it. you just have to have the balance on the ice that's all.

Its just like rollerblading if you've ever done that, except I like it better when you fall because you don't get all scraped up. Your kids may or may not like it, depending on how fast they pick it up. Its not for everyone. I grew up in Detroit, so if you couldn't skate, you were one of the "odd" ones. We would play pickup hockey anywhere we could find ice. Usually, my friends dad would dig out the back yard and fill it with water in the winter. Good times slamming each other into chain-linked fences

my daughter takes lessons and loves it Ive never done it ,but I suck at rollerblading so Im not gong to attempt it lol

I had rental skates that weren't very sharp and it was really annoying. My skates kept getting stuck in other people's grooves.

Heck I havent even been rollerskating in ages so I dont even know if I can still rollerskate much less iceskate but they want to go so bad and I wanna take them. I guess Im just being the "overprotective" mother and afraid they will get hurt

Never been at all, its funny though my kids have LOL they love it
Best best is to find your grove and go with it or so ive heard

I've been twice and had a lot of fun. I got knocked over by my brother several times because he thought it was funny.

It takes some strong ankles to be able to keep your balance. I used to ice skate as a kid.

I only went once - watching it is the safest option, I have to say LOL.

Just watch that when they do fall, as they will do but kids are resilliant, watch that they are clear of other peoples' skate blades.
