So,

I have never really followed baseball yet I have always loved the game. Not sure why I never really watched it that much ... guess it was never really on in the house that I grew up in.

Anyway ... my wife is into base ball .... BIG TIME. She is a Seattle fan. Our son just started t-ball this year and I figured .. okay, time to start getting into baseball .... but I have a conundrum ....

WHAT TEAM!?!?!?

So .... can anyone talk me into becoming a fan of a certain team?

Here is a list of teams that are on my radar ...

1.) Boston
2.) Seattle
3.) San Fransisco
4.) Detroit

I say you have to go with your gut.... watching sports can be a fun emotional experience especially if your heart is in it. So pick which ever team you feel that connection with, so you can route them on win or lose.

Out of those, the Giants... they've got great pitching, good farm system, a storied history, and one of the best stadiums in the majors. I grew up rooting for the Giants as long as they weren't playing my Cubbies... and went to a bunch of games at the Stick and at (Telephone Company) Park.

But would you not have to become a B Bonds apologist?

I don't know about an apologist... but he's part of the team's history and legacy. I personally always loved watching Bonds play, and I'm sorry... steroids didn't have anything to do with that sweet, sweet swing and his amazing hand/eye coordination.

No they dont but he will be remembered for his HR numbers not for his swing

Good suggestions so far!

... btw, you can suggest teams not on the list ...

BUT

I do have to say ... there is a .0005% chance I would ever pick the Yanks ... LOL.

Make that a 0% chance. :D Oh, and add the Cardinals and White Sox to your "won't be a fan" list too. :D I'd suggest the Cubs... but I don't think I'd really want to inflict being a Cubs fan on someone else, I already got my son hooked on them and I kinda feel bad about it.

You are not representative of the majority ;)

Oh I know I'm not... but honestly, steroids became a part of the game... and I still believe that Bonds belongs in the Hall of Fame, though I doubt he'll get in... at least not for a while. Then again, I still maintain that the Hall of Fame isn't legitimate due to the exclusion of Pete Rose.

Good call ... good call. I do love underdogs! ... Beaver Fan here ... :D (football)

Well, becoming a Cubs fan would make you the ultimate underdog fan in baseball. :24: Oh, and c'mon... Oregon State? That makes you an underdog fan in the Pac-12, but try rooting for a non-AQ team... then you can be an underdog fan. ;)
