I will give every last token I own to the person that puts me in touch with my next tower.

I want a tower under $500

I need to be able to manage my HD videos, editing, etc.
I don't need any software installed
I don't need hard drives
I do need a good graphics card for a digital display that will handle HD videos

So basically the best motherboard, chipset, RAM, video graphics card combo I can get for under $500
I have a few towers with decent power supplies, so I don't necessarily need them

Anyone up to date on the hardware scene? I haven't looked in a few years so I'm out of the loop.

So who wants 350,000 tokenz???

I went to the place I order through for all my comps and quickly configured a pretty damn good one for what it sounds like you could use.
Configuration

  • CPU: AMD Athlon™II X4 620 Quad-Core CPU w/ HyperTransport Technology
  • HDD: Single Hard Drive (320GB SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 16MB Cache 7200RPM HDD)
  • MOTHERBOARD: Asus M4A78LT-M LE AM3 DDR3 AMD 760G/SB710 Chipset DDR3 mATX w/ Integrated ATI Radeon 3000, 7.1 HD Audio, GbLAN, USB2.0, SATA-II RAID, 1 Gen2 PCIe, 1 PCIe X1 & 2 PCI
  • MEMORY: 4GB (2GBx2) DDR3/1600MHz Dual Channel Memory Module [+49] (Corsair or Major Brand)
  • SOUND: HIGH DEFINITION ON-BOARD 7.1 AUDIO
  • VIDEO: NVIDIA GeForce 210 512MB 16X PCI Express (Major Brand Powered by NVIDIA)

I'm not sure if this link will take you to my configuration, but you can try it out Shopping Cart

Otherwise Just go to cyberpowerpc.com and you can customize ALL of their comps and they have VERY good prices.
The one I configured is only $512. But there are plenty more below that price.

BTW I chose AMD you can chose intel if you wish they offer both.

Craigslist has alot of used ones up for sale

craigslist.org - then select your region or city.

If you want a new one, it's pretty easy to get a desktop tower for that price

I get brochure from a computer parts site that always has deals for barebone systems
goto TigerDirect.com - Computers, Computer Parts, Computer Components, Netbooks & Electronics
THey are usually listed for only about $400

Just a bit.;)
But that's some power there man.:muscles::3gears
I actually have that mobo and memory combo in my system and I love it. It's rock solid and quite fast. I forget exactly what processor it is but I do recall it's a AMD 2200 mz and I've got 8 MB of RAM.

on this one I upgraded it to 4gbs of memory and changed to a quad core cpu. Price is $481. Nice thing is it's got the DVI-I so if you need to hook up your digital vid camera.
