...and i wasnt being sarcastic!

i just took a break and david said he wanted to do a puzzle.. so he went to the shelf and picked one out... so im in the office doing priceline tix.. (lol) and he calls my name-- heather, i'm done! so i go out there, and he has put together a puzzle of the ENTIRE WORLD!!! there are like 100-150 little pieces with weird shapes and he did the whole thing by himself in like 10 minutes! and he's reading me the names of some places too... australia, madagascar( he recognized from the movie i think) he showed me the place i went on Baycation ( lol, thats how he says vacation) but he pointed to jamaica!



p.s- did i mention he's 5???? oh.. and the whole autism thing too...


the kid is a friggin genius i swear.... when he does things like this i cry! :D

and the best thing was that he was so matter of fact about it... like "hey im done" can i do something else now... lol kids

sweet! i havent done a puzzle in a while... im thinking about a 1500 pc one... 'cept i dont have a surface for that size..

and only 5?! he must be a :ninja or something.. lol

i got to work today and he says to me "Heather, i did the puzzle last night Quiz me."

I said "how do you spell ocean? he got it correct
"is Russia big or small" correct
"is australia close by or far away?' correct
"how do you spell zimbabwe" you got it-- he got it correct

another one of his savant abilities are the facts of dinosaurs. we have an encyclopedia of dinosaurs, and he knows about errrr 100 or so off the top of his head. he got so obsessed about learning about dinosaurs, we had to take them all out of the house for a while because that's all he would say. you would say "good morning" and he'd say "the so-and-so dinosaur lived in so-and-so era. he had a long neck and his 2 front legs were shorter than his back. he was a carnivore...... etc"

so yeah... greetings from work!

I did a 500 pc puzzle once... I was so proud of myself, it only took me 2 hours to do, even though it said 3-5 years on the box.

yeah.. he just picked it up and asked what it was... i just said all the colors on each side have to match... and he went to work..


... he also tried peeling the stickers off and replacing them in the correct spot.. :)

Very cool...he is really soaking up his world. As he ages, you will be running to keep up to his pace, eh? He seems like a lot of love. Is he in Kinder. yet?

yes, he is a typical kindergarten.. he is shadowed every day to learn how to socially interact with his friends and how to actually learn by someone other than his therapists. he will be 6 this summer and has therapists since he turned 2. he doesnt like the fact that someone other than us (his therapists) are trying to teach him... he relies on us too much and is learning how to transfer into a regular school environment
