Damn snap, if I had to give up one.. I don't know which one I'd choose.....
I found a great recipe last night for making tex-mex in one, can't wait to try it one night in the week.

I'd have to give up the vegetable/rice steamer...but only b/c I could still steam veggies on the stove and cook rice in the oven.

how about some crock pot recipes

Everything I had cooked that way growing up sucked :p

So I never bought one

I don't have the exact recipe, but...

Salsa
Black beans
Corn
Chicken breasts

Cook w/ chicken breasts whole for 3 hours...cut up the chicken breasts and allow to cook for another 30 minutes. Serve over mexican-style rice w/ cheese and sour cream. YUM!!!

Easy French Dip Sandwiches

1 1/2 pounds of thinly sliced deli roast beef (I get the cajun-spiced because I'm wild like that ;) )
2 cups of sodium-free beef broth (Herb-Ox is great)
garlic powder (to taste)
onion powder (to taste)
black pepper (to taste)

Cook on high for 3 - 4 hours or on low for 8 hours.

Pile meat high on crusty rolls or baguettes, top with your favourite cheese (husby likes Swiss, I prefer Muenster), and use the broth the meat cooked in for dipping. You can also add other garnishes, like onions, bell peppers, banana peppers, tomatoes... but we like it just... plain. Delish!! Also, wicked good for sports parties - you can make a ton and everyone likes a good sandwich. :)

confused

the deli roast beef I am familiar with is assumed already cooked. Seems like cooking it for 4 hours on high in a crock pot would be cooking the meat too long?

The meat is, indeed, already cooked. However, by putting it in the crock-pot with the au jus, it will break a lot of the proteins down, making the meat extremely tender and very flavourful. You could also use a different cut of raw beef, but I've found that deli roast beef works the best in this particular application.

One of my favorites is a beef roast with sliced onion. Cook it on low with two cans of golden mushroom soup. After 8 hours take out the roast & most of the onion add flour dissolved in water to make a thick gravy and serve with mashed potatoes.

Another is a porkroast cooked in saurkraut again about 8 hours on low.
