Somebody please tell me there is a way to turn off or disable (without removing) Flash Player in firefox or IE? I am getting pissed off at these advertisements that yell at me and follow me to the bottom of the page!!

Adobe put out an upgrade to their flash player not long ago but they failed to consider that some of us are running Vista x64 OS. Now I get flash 10 errors that close every net based program I have running. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Assuming Windows-version of FireFox:

Having FireFox open, click:

Tools (menu bar)
Add-ons (menu item)
Plugins (tab -- right hand side)
Shockwave Flash (list item)
Disable (button, inside Shockwave Flash list item)

You can also manage other add-ons from this window, including extensions and themes.

As for Internet Explorer (I have Vista x64, but most items transition to XP):

Stat (button)
Control Panel (menu item)
Internet Options (icon, double-click to open)
Programs (tab)
Manage Add-ons (button)

Find a similar item to 'Shockwave Flash' (list item; I do not have one in the list on my computer, as I do not use Internet Explorer)

Disable (option, lower left hand of the dialog box)

-----
Both FireFox and Internet Explorer:

Click all the OK boxes to finish. You may have to close and restart the browser application for the settings to be enforced.

Hope this helps you out; those advertisements are bitches.
