I have many shots of Great Blue Herons but because they are such a wary bird the majority of shots are from a gazillion miles away. Today I was graced on my walk by two GBH's as they were in the process of hunting for minnows. I doubt they cared how close I was. I still need to get a close-up of one flying and that's been real hard to do.

A keen eye out for a snack....

nice job Guy

You are right about them being skitterish. I tried to get pics last year and I do not know how they saw me on the other side of the pond thru the brush and I had just entered a pretty secluded clearing.

Great shots. They look almost identical to the grey heron we get over here, except that bird isn't at all wary, there's even a heronry in the middle of London.

Fourth one the best for me. I do like them all but I like the fourth one as it almost has that "moment before the kill" look to it :thumbup
