should be made illegal. As long as they don't cost money to receive, they should be completely legal. I also think the government should not operate do not call lists.

I also believe that there is/are spam and telemarketers because it works. The only way to end it is to stop responding to them.

P.S. I hate them as much as the next person

I dunno if it should be illegal BUTTTTT they should definitely have time frames on when the hell they can call. There is no reason whatsoever that someone should be calling me at 8am on a Saturday morning to try to sell me lawn products!!!! :willy_nilly:

How though by not answering the phone when they call. How am I suppose to know if its a telemarketer or a call about something important like a family emergency.

I'm glad I have a cell phone and screen my phone calls.

Same here, if you call me and ur number doesn't show up on my screen, or i don't recognize the number I don't pick up. All the people I talk to are on my contacts already.

Not answering, but buying what they are selling. Telemarketers are in business because they work. If people didn't buy things offered over the phone, they would stop.

Here is what I would do to regulate them

1. The call cannot cost the receiving party any money
2. Calls must be dialed one at a time
3. Calls cannot be recorded, but must be made by an individual, unless the call is for informational purposes from an existing relationship.
4. Calls can only be made between the hours of 9am and 8pm at the receiving end.

If these simple measures were enacted, you would see a huge reduction in telemarketing calls.

As far as spam goes, it is somewhat difficult to regulate, the bottom line , IMO, is that every unsolicited email is from a thief.

Well I'm not just gonna by some shit so they stop calling me, seems like extortion to me :D

Also the calls should be regulated to be between 9 am and 5 pm (8 hr work day for them :D)

Spam I doesn't bother me since all the spam goes to my spam folder and gets deleted.

screw all that
the bottom line is that its an advertisement to make a POSSIBLE profit
and make profit for just displaying or communicating a product or service
and it is forced upon the end user, this is not a choice so this breaks the freedom of our selves
do we want adds sure but we want to organize our lives to get adds when and where we are ready to do so.
not pushed in our face
its like stepping outside your door and some guy is standing there with a billboard that says "Try this new stock LIM its the best ever!" and he shoves it in your face until you grab him and throw him down and he STAYS away.
I bold the STAYS because we have to go throught a bunch of crap to get that particular spam to stop coming to you if it is something that you dont want. Like getting spam for viagra stuff and your weenie is brick hard without it and you want to stop getting the emails
its like someone is dumping trash on you and cant stop it because it would be against the law to stop the process.
I say the people that are working for the people as spamers should look at them selves and say "I'm annoying people with what I'm doing, I should do something else with my life. When I'm old and looking back at myself and what ive accomplished i would be ashamed that I did such a thing and wasted time that I could have been doing something else
that i would be happier and more satisfied with

so there
take that

I can't stand advertisement of any kind coming through my TV, radio, computer, telephone, etc.

It should be my option whether I allow advertisements on my personal home/property/bubble.

Advertisement in public ... fine.

Telemarketers do cost you money .. they are now calling on our cellphones during the day, which costs me money .. by using up my minutes.

I dunno if it should be illegal BUTTTTT they should definitely have time frames on when the hell they can call. There is no reason whatsoever that someone should be calling me at 8am on a Saturday morning to try to sell me lawn products!!!! :willy_nilly:
They do have rules .. they aren't supposed to call before 9am or after 9pm any day of the week. Same with bill collectors.

I believe the Supreme Court ruled that telephone access is public, and therefore open for marketers. They did draw a line at junk faxs because it costs the recipient money to receive, and therefore does not count as public.

Thankfully (facetiously, of course) Congress passed a law that allows telemarketers to circumvent that restriction, which is why cell phones can now receive spam calls.

Yes, telephone access is public. But my phone is not public if you know what I mean. It is an intrusion on my privacy. The Supreme Court's thinking is wrong imo.

I also don't like advertisements in my mail box when I did not ask for them.

Unfortunately, the mailers help keep the cost of postage down. I read somewhere that the USPS would have to charge over $2 to mail a letter if it weren't for mailbox spam

I hardly ever send anything through mail. I pay all of my bills online. I write all of my friends through email.

Sadly I dont think there's any way to get rid of them. I just put them off slightly by winding them up. If the're going to waste my time, I'll waste theirs!:D Best one is this - when they phone up, just say "tell me more" everytime they stop for a response and nothing else whatever they say, it's too funny!:D
