To start off when I say metal, I mean new/nu metal, I like old stuff, Led Zeppelin, Rush, AC/DC, basically anything that is now considered classic rock. It's not that I'm trying to stop people from listening to metal, thats your choice, but EVERYONE is bashing me cause I don't like it, furthermore, my music is being bashed and when I try to rebuttle in anyway they just say I'm being close minded. Is there anyone here who doesn't like metal, I feel very alone.

It's funny, cause my station (98.9 The Bear, Fort Waynes Rock station) Plays more of the older rock than the newer rock, and the older rock like Zeppelin, Rush, some AC/DC, most hair bands, and whatnot really annoy me. I have to be in a good mood to even want to listen to it.

Nu Metal like Mudvayne or Slipknot I love.

What can I say, I'm an angry individual.

And that's your choice, I just wish people would respect mine. Thats not all I listen to either, I like quite a bit (blues, punk, ska, classic rock, old pop [The Beatles, not Britney pop] and of course, just plain rock n' roll) that's what makes me so mad about them calling me close minded. I like a bit of everything, excpet country and metal.

Aren't they being close minded too? Some pretty hypocritical folks if you ask me. New metal wouldnt be here if it werent for the earlier groups.

I'm not a fan of metal, at all. Old or new. I've never been bashed for that...

Although my own group of friends (myself included) are complete snobs when it comes to music. I mostly listen to folk, blues, underground hiphop, electronic, synth, pop, dance, electropop... lots of things. I'm just not a fan of the metal. Too much screaming and angry guitar, not enough melody or dance-ability.

Yeah... that's the point to nu metal...

haha slower stuff like LB, LP and nickelback...

My tastes extend further into the slower stuff like Collective Soul, Crash Test dummies, etc.

Personally I can listen to nu-metal as they like to call it. Out of all of my friends, I'm prolly on of the more open minded when it comes to music. Give me any musical genre and I'll give it a go.

I'm open-minded but my office lady has a radio by her desk and keeps it on a country station all day long...and I hate it. Country music sucks. Kenny Chesney is a nasally little cunt and whoever that guy is that turned Lips of an Angel into a country song should be tied to a post and sand-blasted into non-existence.

Ok metal or classic rock. I can listen to classic stuff but like I said in another thread I get tired of music fairly quickly. I've heard those songs for 30 years already so its never my first choice.

BUT...nobody has any right to give you shit over it and so what if they do? Fuck'em dude. Crank up some Freebird.

Someone mentioned Nickelback. Those guys are way better live than I ever expected. I saw Hinder/Chevelle/ Hoobastank and Nickelback last September and it was a great show.

I prefer older metal, but don't mind when people dislike metal at all, if we were all the same that'd just be dead boring if you ask me.

Rep for you and Boomer! I think Mudvayne is amazing. I still like Slipknot, but I just haven't listened to them in a while. Although I do still like soem old metal like AC/DC. Actually, as crazy as it sounds, I listen to all types of music. Alternative(The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and Veronica's Veil), rock, metal, some country if I'm in the mood, and a lot of other shit. I just prefer rock because I just seem to always get into a good mood when I listen to it. I could be on the verge of killing everything, pissed off, or in tears over something, and if you put on some Red Jumpsuit or Nickleback or whatever, I'll be in a great mood. Hell, I guess you could say I even listen to some techno or whatever. I've listened to some pretty weird songs, like Operate by The Peaches and some old song called Electric Avenue.
