I was talking with my girlfriend via e-mail, one I hadn't seen in a while, and we were talking how "thrifty" aka cheap we were. How we both had old tvs, didn't go for the latest tech stuff, etc. But I think I bested her.

My refridgerator shelf broke on the door, so when you open my door to reach for mayonaise, ketchup, etc. you reach behind a bungee chord:tooth

Can't argue Dana, but u see, when we leave we have to buy a refridgerator for this unit-it's to rent. I want a fancy one with an icemaker and everything for myself, so until then I will wear this one to the bone. And when I leave I will buy a bare basic one for the renters

Bungee cords are great, I use one to hold my fridge/freezer door open! But it does open up instead of out =)

I think everyone is "cheap" on certain things and you decide the things that are necessary or can be held on to. When the wife and I were unemployed we took a hard look at our situation and if certain things did indeed happen we might have done some majorly drastic things.

Although I don't recommend anyone to be a miser, being cheap has it's benefits. I'm cheap, and my brother is the total opposite when it comes to money. Hence, my life has been easier than his over the last number of years since I have a little bit in the bank, while he's trying to bounce back after going bankrupt.
