How long do you think it will take until hydrogen cars are on the road?

What other applications could benefit or make use of hydrogen energy?

I don't know about your car, but the gas issue should not be a problem. I remember reading somewhere that leading scientists were confident there is enough oil to last something like 500 years.
I also don't think there will be that type of war.
I think the hydrogen concept will eventually take off and then it will be only a matter of time before the transition takes place. What will really dictate how fast the transition comes and goes; is the replacement of the gasoline based infra-structure.

yeah some kind of gov't subsidized or "coupons" for an engine replacement, to forestall the purchasing of a fully new vehicle, or something like that. i would suggest that the automakers listen to people like us... we might have a good idea... once in a while... :ninja

There has been some criticism about going to hydrogen, and some feel the shift will never happen, or at least not happen anytime soon. The fuel is really expensive to date, and if kept in a liquid state, it's temperature needs to be around -260ºC.

I do agree that hydrogen energy is not without it's hurdles. The primary reason I am interested in the energy source is the "green" factor.
