I worked on a family farm all my teenage years.

Then I worked for a gunsmith & farmer part-time.

Worked as a handyman for an elderly couple around the time I graduated high school.

Followed that by working at a construction materials testing lab for several months.

Started working for a steel fabricator in the office. This job lasted 3 years.

Became a purchasing agent for another fabricator for several months.

Changed jobs to a different plant for about 3 more years.

Moved to work for a big company.

Went from there to running a small fabrication shop.

Got an offer to go to a bigger company and took it.That one lasted about 5 years.

Had a partnership offer that ran its course in about 2 years.

I became self-employed and have stayed on this path over 20 years.

12 jobs counting all of them.

Dang! Just sat and counted what I could remember off the top of my head. Came up with 24 and the one was for 18 years. I worked 2 jobs for many years so it is not like I jumped around a lot. Got fired once and laid off a few times.

I've had 7.

  • First job was working at the concession stands at our local fairgrounds. It sucked balls and I lasted about a week.
  • Then I worked as an Office Assistant at my High School.
  • While working as an Office Assistant I also worked as a cashier at K-mart.
  • Throughout college I worked as a Cashier at Chick-fil-a.
  • Internship during college as a Deputy Clerk at the courthouse.
  • Dispatcher/Operations Manager at a limousine company (sink or swim, the old Operations Manager quit about 2 months after I started and I was thrown into the position).
  • 911 Dispatcher...the job I've held for just shy of 12 years now. From Deputy to Corporal to Sergeant. :D

I've worked as a:

Bellman, houseman, pool attendent, dishwasher, and a banquet area worker for a hotel. I've also worked with those with developmental disabilities, worked as a cook for a cafe, worked for the YMCA, a farmworker, worked as a radio station DJ, worked for a community TV station, I was a cashier for donut shop, worked at a teen center, nursing homes, as well as assisted living homes. I've worked doing other things as well.

I think the fact that I've worked in so many fields is good, since the only way to find out which field is for you or not is to try many different things like I have.
