The daily mass of new posts is what makes me feel overcrowded regularly (and is one reason for giving up OTz several times). I come on and BOOOOOOOOM! :willy_nilly:- I feel like smashed to the ground by so many new posts, and I never know where to look first and how to divide out my attention to somehow do justice to at least the users I like.

I've decided to give it another try, but would really like to know how you deal with it.

70% of new posts are word games or people posting more pictures of themselves. If you can see past these, there really isn't very much actually being posted. I doubt you'd feel quite so inundated.

It's easy. Subscribe to the threads that interest you, and let the rest go by. I have learned that the forum will not fall apart if I don't read everything.

If a title catches my eye, I'll read it. If not I leave it. If I then see that anything keeps getting bumped to the top from people replying, I'll take a nosey.

@Zorak: Okay, that's right. I guess, I need to get rid of that feeling that I have to participate every game.

@Kakapoo Dundee: ...somehow I automatically subscribe to threads I've ever took part in. oO ...certainly, there is a way to configure it. I'll have a look at it. That should be very helpful then.

@dancingpotato: ...okay, even though I looked up several words, I don't get the meaning of the last sentence. :ninja: However, I think I got the point. ^^

I only tend to look at threads that interest me, or threads where I've been alerted to go in (reported posts), but I don't just go into any thread.

If a post keeps coming up top of the list due to people replying, I will go look in it.

I'm bad about not checking new threads and just constantly checking the threads I'm subscribed to by using the "Settings" option. Once I run out of subscribed threads to read, I'll start looking at new posts. The forum has been fairly slow lately, though, so it's not as big a task as it has been previously.

One thing you CAN do is use the "Mark forum as read" option. If you glance over a particular area of the forum and don't see any new threads that peak your interest, click "Forum Tools" and then "Mark this forum as read" and it will take them off your list of new posts. ;)

I've totally forgotten that option. :ninja Thanks for reminding. :)

I go through certain sections that I know I don't really care about, like politics or humour, and mark them as read straight away. The chances of there being something I want to read about in there are slim, so I do all of those, then go to new posts and see what's left :)

It filters out all the stuff you're less likely to be interested in.
